Kingsbury is famous for coaching notable QBs including Patrick Mahomes. And what he has to say about his QB Caleb Williams and the 2x SB champion to Bob Stoops is wild. He said of the two-star QBs, “I’ve been around Patrick and he’s eerily similar in some ways. The ability to extend plays and off-platform throws and just the way they both play the game is pretty scary.”

Caleb Williams has made quite a name for himself at USC with his innate ability to extend plays, use of varied arm angles, and his ability to break down defensive strategies. During his two seasons with the Trojans, he has remained consistent in his performance, accounting for 4,537 yards in 14 games in 2022 and 3,633 yards in 12 games in 2023. It’s not surprising he’s usually compared to NFL star Patrick Mahomes.

Jordan Palmer, a former NFL QB and QB coach of notable players like Josh Allen and Joe Burrow said of Caleb Williams, “I said it then, and I’ve never said it about anyone else: That’s the best kid I’ve ever seen. I know when I say those things out loud it can carry some weight, so I don’t throw that around a lot. I’m not the over-hyper.” So, for someone who carefully chooses his words, it’s high praise for the potential No. 1 Bears’ pick who’s “ready to play, can do all the things mental, physical and emotional.”
