Jim Harbaugh’s decision to join the Chargers has left so many Michigan fans lamenting over the loss. Following his official declaration, the Michigan Wolverines official IG account posted a bittersweet video of the departing HC which is a compilation of his time in Michigan. The caption reads, “Thank you Coach Harbaugh and forever Go Blue.”

Jim Harbaugh may have left his alma mater and his successful stint as the Wolverines HC for the Chargers. But after playing there for four seasons from 1983 to 1986 and coaching them for the last nine seasons from 2015 to 2023 with three back-to-back Big Ten Championships, he still has a tie with the program despite his decision. He stated, “My love for Michigan, playing there and coming back to coach there, leaves a lasting impact. I’ll always be a loyal Wolverine.”

Michigan’s 30-day transfer portal opens

Recently, it was announced that once the former Michigan HC officially leaves the program, “Michigan players have 30 days to enter the transfer portal.” The next 30 days might make or break the Wolverines roster as some mandatory changes in the coaching staff are coming. Hopefully, Michigan will still be able to retain most of its players unlike what happened with Alabama losing several key players after Nick Saban’s retirement.

One of the hopes that the fans of the National Champions carry with them is the potential replacement of Harbaugh with their OC Sherrone Moore who took the HC role during Harbaugh’s suspension in 2023. If that happens, perhaps the Wolverines will find some reason to remain at Ann Arbor in the top college football team given their OC’s familiarity and experience in Michigan.
