The Steelers were quite determined to fix their offensive line this offseason, and it looks like they have succeeded in it. The team just added two promising new players to their roster from the 2024 NFL Draft. In the second round of the draft, they selected Zach Frazier, a center from West Virginia. He will soon join Troy Fautanu, an offensive lineman picked in the first round. These two promising players will likely work alongside Broderick Jones, who was the Steelers’ first-round pick in 2023.
Now this is a great news for the team’s quarterback Russell Wilson and the rest of the offense. Frazier, in particular, is also thrilled about the opportunity as he recently expressed his excitement to join forces with Wilson and Co’s offensive line.

A day after drafting Fautanu, the Steelers followed up by selecting Zach Frazier, a center from West Virginia. After the announcement, The Steelers Depot shared Zach Frazier’s thoughts on their X handle: “I just know how much offensive line means to the Pittsburgh Steelers and they’re long tradition there of having great olinemen and great offensive lines. So I mean it’s special too, and like you said, they already went to the offensive line in the first round, so it’s special.” Now this marks only the second time in history that the Steelers have drafted offensive linemen in back-to-back rounds. The last time was in 2012, with David DeCastro and Mike Adams.

Frazier will add much-needed experience to the Steelers’ offense and is expected to be a starter soon in the upcoming season. His track record of starting 37 games as a center for West Virginia shows he’s quite ready for it. He also expressed that he’s quite “excited to work” with the new team which has Russell Wilson as its quarterback.

Earlier this year, the Steelers got their hands on the Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson. This acquisition immediately shifted their focus to building a stronger offense to support him. They started this by drafting Troy Fautanu as their reliable offensive tackle. Then, adding Zach Frazier in the second round and wide receiver Roman Wilson in the third further proved their commitment to bolstering Wilson’s offense.
Now this revamped offensive line will be essential for their veteran quarterback, offering the protection he needs to play his passes. It also opens up exciting new possibilities for more action in the offense. While the individual pieces look impressive, the real challenge lies in the hands of new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. He has the new challenge of turning these individual talents into a unified team, working seamlessly to execute his “offensive vision.” With both Wilson and Smith bringing fresh energy to the team, the Steelers’ upcoming games promise to capture eyeballs.
