The Wolverines’ prized jewel could be the next big QB for the Denver Broncos, just like the recently traded Zach Wilson. After Aaron Rodgers was severely injured in his debut match for the New York Jets, all responsibility of the starting QB fell on Zach Wilson’s shoulders.

But Wilson struggled throughout his three seasons with the team and in week 15, he suffered a tragic concussion against the Miami Dolphins on December 17. After this, the Jets decided that a change in scenery was needed and traded him to the Broncos, splitting his 2024 salary of $5.5 million between the Jets and his new team. Now, an NFL commentator has added JJ McCarthy to the equation who could supposedly be a good fit in the roster along with Wilson.

From a clip of the Pat McAfee show dated 23rd April, Peter Schrager, the renowned Fox Sports sportscaster, appeared on the show to discuss his vision for the Denver Broncos and who they might end up drafting. While Bo Nix seems like the most probable draft pick, Schrager weighed in on the option of JJ McCarthy to the Broncos and compared him to Zach Wilson, the newest team member on a $2.5 million contract.

Schrager said, “JJ McCarthy is gonna be the fourth quarterback taken, that’s what I think. Does Denver move up to take JJ McCarthy? Do they sit at 12th and take Nix or Penix? Or do they move back a little and that’s where they get Nix or a Penix?

He further added, “But I would think the Zach Wilson trade, you know, three years ago, he was the second overall pick in the Draft and lemme tell you, Sean Payton has thrived with guys who have been discarded by their first teams.” While the football world around Wilson seems to be in a shaky place, his mother’s words of advice will surely motivate the youngster as he prepares himself to don the bright new orange jersey.

The move from the Jets to the Broncos isn’t the best accolade for Wilson since the men in green gave up on his talent. With Sean Payton at the forefront of the team, Wilson could very well go on to redeem himself in the next arc of his career, and alongside him, is his mother’s fully devoted support as well.

On 23rd April, Lisa Wilson took to Instagram to share a video of the front of her house being covered with the Broncos’ flags and balloons. She captioned the video with, “Surround yourself with People the (that) love you, cheer for you and want you to succeed,” which could hint towards his tumultuous time with the New York Jets. Thus, the fans are excited to see Wilson in the orange colors and prove to the world that he’s more than the player he was with the Jets.
