The NFL Draft is only 27 days away now, and it looks like analysts are ready with their picks out of the QBs. With Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy taking over all the media hype, Drake Maye is being treated as an underdog by the fans. But this time, it’s the QB from North Carolina who is being projected to be the best player of the 2023 class.

Drake Maye, the quarterback of the North Carolina Tar Heels, was a standout of his team in the 2023 season. He threw out over 3,608 passing yards and finished a staggering amount of 24 touchdowns. With only 9 interceptions in last season, he is undoubtedly one of the best QBs to be in this year’s Draft. And according to the former WR for the Atlanta Falcons, he might be the best.

Harry Douglas expresses his honest thoughts on Drake Maye

On the latest episode of ‘First Take’, host Molly Qerim was involved in a conversation with guest Harry Douglas. She posed the question in front of him, “Which quarterback projects to be the best pro?” Douglas’ response was quite a unique perspective as he name-dropped Drake Maye and listed his three reasons for it.

Douglas said, “I think potentially it could be Drake Maye, and here’s why I think that. When you look at all the quarterbacks in the draft right now, Drake Maye, in my opinion, is the rawest. When you look at his senior year in high school, he missed that year because of COVID. I think at the end of the day, he could have the best Pro career because of him having better-surrounding pieces than what he had at North Carolina. And also to be coached up properly. And so, I’m looking at Drake Maye.

Moreover, he ended up talking about how Maye possesses the right set of physical traits which could prove to be highly beneficial if utilized in the right way. But while Maye is preparing for a career in the NFL now, here’s a look at what he had to say about his regrets during college.

Drake Maye shares his biggest regrets during his time with North Carolina

Maye is projected to be a top QB Draft pick, right behind the likes of Williams and Daniels. But while a glorious career awaits him in the NFL, his time in college wasn’t exactly golden. The team went 8-4 under a Maye-led roster but even that wasn’t enough to land them in the CFP top 4 playoff spot.

Talking about his team’s poor regret, Maye expressed his regrets and said, “Looking back on it, I wish I would have got the whole team. I feel like the impact I had as a guy in that locker room for the entire team would have paid off for us, would have paid off for me, paid more dividends than me getting the offense together. Some of those things, I regret. And those are things I’m taking to my next step and my next chapter in life.” Thus, as he awaits a top-tier team to draft him in April, Maye will be looking to do everything differently than what he did at North Carolina.
