Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels, are both one of the top quarterbacks in the upcoming NFL Draft but who is the better player? The NFL Draft is only 47 days away now and all eyes are going to be on the top QBs like Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, JJ McCarthy, etc. With all of them in the hopes of landing with a top-tier NFL team, who takes the cake when it comes to Daniels and Maye?
Drake Maye, the quarterback for the North Carolina Tar Heels, is an exceptional player who has won several awards and honors during his time with the team. He was awarded the 2022 ACC Player of the Year as well as the ACC Offensive Player of the Year. In the two seasons he’s been at North Carolina, his skills and talents have earned him a great reputation and he now stands at the projected 2nd position at the QB draft pick.
Jayden Daniels, on the other hand, ranks below Maye, but his numbers aren’t lagging far behind. The quarterback for the LSU Tigers won the Heisman Trophy in 2023 after a phenomenal performance. With a lot of fans claiming that Daniels should be ranked above Maye, the QB has a bright future ahead of the NFL Draft, but the question persists- who is the better quarterback out of the two?

Drake Maye v/s Jayden Daniels: Which QB comes out on top?
Even though the projected draft pick put Williams at one, Maye at two, and Daniels at three, it is interesting to see whether they rank the same when it comes to their stats. Here’s a look at both of their performances and you decide who the better QB is.
🚨Drake Maye VS Jayden Daniels! 🚨Finally started looking at the qbs, no film yet just advanced stats📑
📍Some context to consider is that Maye threw significantly more which makes his percentages/grades more impressive. (They also both played 12 games)

Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels both played 12 games, but the North Carolina QB threw more. Additionally, Daniels threw out a total of 3,811 passing yards as compared to Maye’s 3,608. For touchdowns, Daniels has completed over 40 as compared to Maye’s 24. Moreover, Daniels is older than Maye but continues to assert dominance on the gridiron.
Thus, even with the projected picks favoring Maye over Daniels, it looks like the LSU Tigers’ QB is the better player. With all that said, Dan Orlovsky of ESPN had a whole new perspective to share when he claimed that Daniels is better than Williams as well.
Is Daniels better than Williams? Don Orlovsky chimes in
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is projected to be the number 3rd pick in the Draft. With the Bears having the first pick, followed by the Washington Commanders and the New England Patriots, the home of Tom Brady seems like the most probable choice for Daniels.
Caleb Williams has been, so far, dominating all the conversations related to the NFL Draft, and while some rank Maye over the USC QB, here’s Dan who ranks Daniels over everyone else.
"I would take Jayden Daniels at number one over Caleb Williams..
I think Caleb is really good but I like what Jayden can do in the pocket and I think he's a better natural thrower" ~ @danorlovsky7#PMSLive pic.twitter.com/y9LErKho8g

While Williams is projected to be the number 1 pick, Dan Orlovsky has a fresh opinion about Daniels being the number 1 draft pick. He said, “I would take Jayden No.1. I think that three things that make it stand out for me are No.1, I think his ball placement versus man coverage is the best in the draft. We see that in the NFL on a consistent basis, we’re starting to see more and more of it.”
He further added, “I would take Jayden No.1 over Caleb. I think Caleb is really good. I just think Jayden does stuff within the pocket better, more consistently. And I think he’s a better natural thrower.” Thus, if Orlovsky’s words were to be taken at heart, Daniels could end up with the Chicago Bears instead of Williams, who is the supposed king of the Draft at the moment.
