Caleb Williams is widely regarded as the top prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft, and the Chicago Bears hold the coveted first overall pick. The Chicago Bears face a crucial decision with the first overall pick in the upcoming draft: they can either trade the pick while retaining quarterback Justin Fields, or they can opt to trade Fields and retain the pick.

There are indications that the Bears are giving serious consideration to parting ways with Fields, prompting questions about Williams’ preferred destination, but the star quarterback has made his stance clear. During an interview with ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Williams emphasized his excitement about the possibility of joining the Bears, affirming that he would embrace the opportunity to play for them as eagerly as he would for any other team that selects him.

Williams expressed his enthusiasm about the prospect of joining the Bears, highlighting their talented roster and the allure of playing in a city with a rich sports history. “If I get drafted by the Bears, I’ll be excited,” opined Williams. However, if he does not, he is equally excited to join any other team that drafts him, “If they trade the pick, and I get drafted by someone else, I’m just as excited.”

He further emphasized that he holds no agenda regarding his destination and trusts the Bears to make the final decision. “I’m not pushing any agenda,” said Williams, “At the end of the day, the Bears have the last say.” Despite his limited experience in Chicago, Williams showcased his admiration for the city’s illustrious sports legacy during his brief visit. He expressed his study of iconic figures such as Michael Jordan and Walter Payton, underscoring his respect for Chicago’s sporting heritage. While some speculated about his reluctance to join the Bears based on his social media activity, Williams clarified that such interpretations were likely inaccurate. The young athlete is eager for his “first date” with the Bears in Indianapolis this week. He, however, will not be throwing at the NFL combine.
