The world of the NFL seems to be tearing Caleb Williams apart for his nail paint and fashion choices. The number 1 QB overall pick for the Draft is being talked about more for his appearance rather than his talent. And this time, the name of the legendary Dennis Rodman is being brought up to throw more mud on the name of Williams.

Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the USC Trojans, is a phenomenal talent that could very well be the next generational talent in the NFL. Back in the last season, Williams faced a lot of backlash when he was seen crying into the arms of his mother after an unfortunate loss. And now, the fact that he dons pink nail paint has led several to believe that it is a cheap marketing ploy to garner negative publicity. So much so, that this journalist felt the need to bring in Rodman’s name to the equation, all in an effort to call out the Trojans’ QB.

On the latest episode of the ‘Black and White Sports’ show, the host dove deep into the heated topic of Caleb Williams and his unique personal choices. He compared the prince of the Trojans to famous Chicago Bulls legend Dennis Rodman in a recent statement.

Dennis Rodman used to play back in the 90s, was a pillar of the LGBTQ in the basketball community. From sporting painted nails to fluorescent hair, Rodman did it all, without a care in the world. Though his reputation was often tarnished for his appearance, he never let it affect his prowess on the court. Now that the NFL might be seeing an athlete with a little similarity to the Bulls’ legend, it is becoming more of a controversy by the day.

The host of the show said, “In a day and time where masculinity is supposedly considered toxic, and the media and so many other people want to devalue alpha males, yeah, when Caleb Williams paints his fingernails, it doesn’t feel that normal. All right? This isn’t Dennis Rodman, 25 years ago, trying to run a brilliant marketing ploy on everybody and if nothing else in this society was going on that felt sinister, I’m not sure anybody would be talking about Caleb Williams’s painted fingernails.”

Back in the 90s, the fans used to despise the fact that Rodman was so much more different from any athlete they had ever witnessed. He used to draw flak from the fans every day for being so unusual and strange. But it took them a lot of years to realize that Rodman’s personal choices never interfered with how he played on the court. As such, they were finally able to accept him. Now that Caleb Williams is on a similar path, it will be interesting to see if the fans end up accepting him anytime soon.

In light of all the recent hatred against the young QB, former NFL player for the Washington Commanders, voices his grand support for Caleb Williams.

“Let Caleb Williams be Caleb Williams”: Robert Griffin shows solidarity with the Caleb Williams situation

If things go in the favor of Williams, then we will be seeing him in the colors of the Bears after the Draft. As such, if there ever was a place that would be accepting of an expressive athlete, it would be the glorious city of Chicago. This is the emotion that Robert Griffin also resonated with while voicing his support for the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner.

He said, “Let Caleb Williams be Caleb Williams. Ain’t nothing wrong with him wearing pink fingernail polish and having a pink phone case. Quite frankly, if he goes to Chicago then Bears’ fans should be rocking whatever he is. Stop the hate and accept him for who he is.” Thus, even with all the deafening noise around Williams and his nails, he isn’t letting anything get to his head and is continuing to be the best version of himself while letting his numbers succeed his reputation.
