Patrick Mahomes is holding the baton of dreams that Terry Bradshaw and Tom Brady could not complete in 1997 and 2006, respectively. It was to win a 3-peat, aka taking the Lombardi Trophy home for 3 consecutive years, which no player or team has accomplished thus far. Now, Mahomes has a chance to do the never-done-before and to make his name the best in history. Among the obstacles, standing between him and his goal, the most concerning one is Jim Harbaugh.

When Jim Harbaugh took over the Chargers, the most-talked-about aspect of his head coaching role wasn’t staff overhaul or roster redefinition. All headlines discussed one thing: Jim Harbaugh’s unfulfilled Super Bowl dream. Jim Harbaugh almost had the Lombardi trophy 11 years ago, but his brother became the hindrance. Therefore, winning the Super Bowl this season will be something very personal for Harbaugh. As Mike Freeman from USA Today puts it, “Wherever he goes, he wins.” So, it’s Jim Harbaugh’s winning records paired with his drive to win that makes him all too scary for Patrick Mahomes.

For this, Harbaugh whisked away the best coaches from Michigan and the pro league to join the Chargers staff to amp up his team against the best ones like Chiefs. Jesse Minter was the first of them all who secured the place of the DC. Followed by Greg Roman OC and Marcus Brady passing game coordinator. After this, Harbaugh went on a complete rampage mode as he appointed NaVarro Bowman as linebacker coach, Sanjay Lal as wide receivers coach, Steve Clinkscale as a DB coach, Andy Bischoff as run game coordinator/TE coach, Mike Elston as DL coach, Mike Devlin OL coach, Chris O’Leary as safeties coach, Shane Day quarterback coach and Ben Herbert as the strength and conditioning coach.
