Rome Odunze, the wide receiver for the Washington Huskies, has been a knight in shining armor for the team back in the 2023 season. Winks started by saying, “I saw him on the plane to Vegas for the Super Bowl and his upper body is so jacked and that’s super impressive.” Norris followed it up with, “Rome Odunze is broad. He is a large upper-body dude which it plays into winning these tough 50/50 balls. I also read that he’s a pain in the ass to tackle after he catches. He’s not completely lighted up like Malik Nabers.” Thus, it is evident that Odunze is a better receiver because of his massive proportions, despite it being such an unheard combination when it comes to WRs since they’re usually meant to be a lot lighter and agile. Furthermore, his physical traits will ensure a bright future in the NFL according to the former Huskies’ coach, JaMarcus Shephard.

“He will be eating New York”: former coach Shephard speaks up on Odunze’s NFL future

Back in January of 2022, JaMarcus Shephard joined the Huskies. Currently, he is the WR coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide but under his mentorship, Odunze flourished back in his first season. During Shephard’s run, Odunze earned the first-team All-Pac-12 honors and led the team with 1,145 yards, on 75 receptions. Thus, it makes sense that Shephard has a few words to say about the team that could be a good fit for his prized player.

Shephard said, “He will be eating New York out of his hands because he truly is a person who can handle all types. There’s a brute toughness to New York, and Rome has that. There’s also the glitz and glam. Guess what? He’s going to make those plays, too.” As such, Odunze could have an outstanding career with either the New York Giants or the Jets, whoever ends up with the fateful pick. Undoubtedly, Odunze’s presence on the field will boost a team’s Super Bowl dreams drastically since he’s a force to be reckoned with.
