Jim Harbaugh is strengthening his Chargers’ coaching staff with strategic moves, the latest being the appointment of Sanjay Lal as their new wide receivers coach. Lal, who was previously with the Seattle Seahawks as a pass-game coordinator, brings a wealth of experience in coaching NFL receivers. Lal’s tenure in Seattle was followed by a stint as the wide receivers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021. He then returned to the Seahawks as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach for the past two seasons, demonstrating his versatility and expertise in player development.

 

Starting his NFL journey in 2007, Lal initially sеrvеd as a quality control coach for thе Raidеrs bеforе еarning a promotion to widе rеcеivеrs coach. Hе continuеd in this rolе with thе Jеts, Bills, Colts, Cowboys, and Jaguars. Lal’s collеgiatе carееr commеncеd at UCLA in 1989 bеforе transfеrring to thе University of Washington, whеrе hе compеtеd from 1990 to 1992. With Lal’s proven track record, the Chargers are poised to enhance their offensive capabilities for the upcoming season. Besides that, the team also has hired a new offensive coordinator.

The Chargers hires Greg Roman as their new OC

The Chargers have announced the appointment of Greg Roman as their offensive coordinator. With 25 years of NFL coaching experience and a decade-long stint as an offensive coordinator, Roman joins the Chargers following his tenure leading the Baltimore Ravens’ offense from 2019 to 2022.

Notably, under his guidance, the Ravens boasted the NFL’s top-ranked rushing offense, averaging 175.2 yards per game. Roman has mentored numerous players to Pro Bowl selections throughout his career, including Mark Andrews, Lamar Jackson, Ronnie Stanley, and Mike Iupati. Roman reunites with Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, with whom he previously collaborated at Stanford and the San Francisco 49ers.

Notably, Lal has a connection with offensive coordinator Roman, dating back to their time together with the Buffalo Bills in 2015 and 2016. Moreover, the Chargers have also appointed former Eagles staff Marcus Brady as their new passing game coordinator. With these new additions to the coaching staff, Jim Harbaugh & Co. are set to enhance their offensive capabilities for the upcoming season.
