The coaching techniques of Jim Harbaugh will have a direct influence on Justin Herbert’s game at the LA Chargers. Jim was called on by the Spanos family to lead the NFL team after calling it quits from his time in college football after nine seasons with the Michigan Wolverines. And now, Harbaugh is set to bring the golden touch back but this time, it will be in the hopes of a Super Bowl.
Jim Harbaugh, the former head coach for the Michigan Wolverines, led a dominant force this past 2023 season. His team went 15-0 undefeated before finally going on to win the national championship. Now that he’s looking to continue the same magic with the Chargers, here’s how the QB Justin Herbert could benefit from it. Moreover, here’s the former wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons chiming in with his own opinions on the Harbaugh-Herbert dynamic.

He said, “What he was able to do with every stop he’s been at, whether it was Stanford or the San Francisco 49ers, I played against him when I was in Atlanta when he was coaching those teams and then at Michigan when he won the national championship, this is a coach who will predicate the culture of a physicality.”
Douglas further added, “So that offensive line that went into last season with that finesse mindset, that’s not the way training camp is gonna go this year. That’s gonna make a huge difference. So I think Jim Harbaugh being the head coach of this football team is going to allow Justin Herbert or take pressure off of Justin Herbert because the running game is going to be valuable. ” Though the pressure of the game will be drastically reduced for Herbert under the leadership of Harbaugh, the passing is going to be incredibly tough ever since Keenan Allen and other WRs were traded recently.
The Chargers’ recent trades will make it difficult for Herbert to throw out quality passes
The Chargers were facing a dilemma of cap space until last week. Soon after they decided to let go of one of their veteran WRs Keenan Allen and trade him to the Chicago Bears for a fourth-round Draft pick. Moreover, the Chargers also released Mike Williams, a wide receiver, who is currently a free agent.

If things weren’t bad yet, Austin Ekeler, the running back for the Chargers decided to join the Washington Commanders on a two-year deal and Gerald Everett, the TE, went to the Chicago Bears for two years as well. With all these important members of the squad gone, Herbert will have to rely on new transfers to throw the ball out to, which might take some getting used to.
