Patrick Mahomes v/s Caleb Williams is a very recent debate that has come up in the NFL world. Both players have been the driving forces behind their team’s glory. But Mahomes plays for the Chiefs in the NFL whereas Williams plays for the USC Trojans in the NCAA. Williams is a league behind and is still a part of this debate that has got everyone riled up.

While several support Williams as the righteous contender, most of the fans are touchy about the debate. The Kansas City Chiefs’ QB is deemed to be the next Tom Brady and as such, everyone believes it to be an insult to compare him to someone who hasn’t even made it to the NFL yet. In a recent statement, a college scout added oil to the fire by saying that Williams might be better than Mahomes.

In a recent tweet that gained over 196.3k views, the popular fan favorite page, ‘NFL Notifications’ had no qualms whatsoever about releasing a controversial statement that related Mahomes to Williams. The Super Bowl winner is already termed as the best QB in the football world while Williams is still an up-and-coming talent. The statement compared the two quarterbacks and claimed that Williams has a better throw than Mahomes.

The scout said, “Besides Williams having a stronger arm, they are almost the exact same player.” These words resonated with the fans in all the wrong ways. They took to arms and stormed the tweet with strong words of denial. But while we’re all equally taken aback by the statement, here’s a look at both Mahomes and Williams’ numbers this season.

Mahomes’ passing yards stand at 4,184 and has completed over 27 touchdowns, overall 8th in the league. As for Williams, he’s recorded over 3,633 passing yards and has 30 touchdowns in his name. It’s apparent that Williams hasn’t equaled Mahomes’ numbers yet but isn’t too far off yet either. Thus, the comparison seems like a fair conversation to have, but the fans have made it clear that they’re not happy with the hypothesis.

The fans react strongly to the thought of Williams being better than Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes is the sole quarterback in the NFL currently that the fans can vicariously see Tom Brady in. After Brady left, it is evident that the people will always need a figure like him to look up to. And while the task has seemed difficult for long, they finally found their Brady in Mahomes. Now, as the Mahomes v/s Williams debate has sprung up, the fans got a little too angry about it.

This fan sort of agreed with Williams’ physical prowess being better than Mahomes, but called out his mentality as a player.

This user had no difficulty straight-up calling out the scout on his supposed lie and saying this.

Williams hasn’t yet stepped foot in the NFL either, so to compare him to Mahomes seems like a far-fetched thing to say. This is exactly what this fan had to say in his response.

This fan couldn’t stop laughing about the unrealistic comparison and called the comparison “cap”, which translates to lying.
