Almost a week ago, the Seattle Seahawks announced the hiring of 7 new coaches in their coaching staff under head coach Mike McDonald. Several positions are already filled by the staff members hailing from the CFB. Alabama’s Ryan Grubb is one of the most recent ones to make a switch to Seattle Seahawks, also the most discussed one, given the bond he shares with Bama head coach Kalen DeBoer. It was in 2009 that DeBoer and Grubb first worked together as a team for Sioux Falls (S.D.). Since then, the two have become each other’s right hands. So when Grubb took the role of OC at Seahawks when he originally followed DeBoer to Alabama, DeBoer’s plan to utilize his best friend to the best of his potential was tattered.
What DeBoer was not ready for was him enduring another hit from the same NFL Giant, just after a week. Seattle seems an attractive place for Alabama staff members, as another Crimson Tide staff member is on his way to the Seahawks. Per Touchdown Alabama, Bama’s former safeties coach Nick Perry is to join the Seahawks as a member of their defensive team assuming the role of the assistant defensive coach under their newly appointed defensive coach Aden Durde.

Well, the Seahawks are following the off-season trend of giving their staff a complete overhaul. Along with these three hires, the Seahawks have also appointed Jim Harbaugh’s son Jay Harbaugh, who formerly served as a special teams coordinator at Michigan, in the same position. Safe to say, the Virginia Mason Athletic Center is expected to look a lot different for the Seahawks in the spring practice session. It is exactly what Mike McDonald has in mind for his team.

Mike McDonald’s motto for the upcoming season
One of the first things that McDonald did after receiving his warm welcome from the Seahawks members was to outline changes he had in mind for his staff. “We have been working on our staff the whole time,” Macdonald said on Seattle Sports 710AM. “We came over to the facility for the first time to introduce us before the press conference, and met everybody briefly, but then we were on the board working on staff immediately. It’s a long process, but it’s a great process trying to find the right guys to come in here to coach our team.”
