Keon Sabb, a Michigan prodigy, recently announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. This has come after the recent surprising replacement that Sherrone Moore made for the defensive backs coach position. While reports claim that this might be because Michigan not hiring the most-anticipated candidate, Stephen Adegoke for the role, it may all be just stemming from one big reason which possibly has been and would be the root of it all: the Jim Harbaugh fever.

Jim Harbaugh took over the headlines of the football landscape by announcing his major decision to step back in the pro league. While the move surely benefitted the Chargers, it left a huge aftermath for Sherrone Moore to deal with. First off, the staff consisting of the best of the coaches started thinning, as they began following Jim Harbaugh to the Chargers back-to-back. While the hiring and firing are the off-season stars. If that was not bad enough, Moore faces the first major blow to his regular season. Per Maize and Brew, safety Keon Sabb entered the transfer portal.

While it might be a concern for Sherrone Moore and Co, the free agency’s rule of having the transfer portal window of the team with a change in head coach open for another 30 days comes as a sign of relief for the players, being a blessing in disguise. On3’s Pete Nakos sent out a special reminder of Michigan’s transfer portal window not closing until February 23, which is roughly about a week from now.

With rapidly changing staff, and many yet-to-be filled positions, some other transfers, despite being a huge concern, may not be surprising for Moore. The players have yet another 7 days to make a commitment to another year with the UM. Given the magnitude of the decision, the commonly talked about rule of the transfer portal is truly a blessing in disguise for the players. While the future of players with Michigan lay in their hands for now, Jim Harbaugh’s future at the Chargers seems pretty good.

Jim Harbaugh’s hefty contract with the Chargers

Dean Spanos has lavished Jim Harbaugh with a five-year, $80 million contract as first reported by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. This would give him around $16 million per year. That paired with Jim Harbaugh getting a chance to achieve his Super Bowl dream, along with bringing the lost reputation of the Chargers back after Brandon Staley led the team to 12 losses this season.
