The once beloved coach of the Michigan Wolverines has found a new home with the Chargers, as did Jim Harbaugh. He announced his exit from the team after 9 seasons and chose to sign with the LA Chargers, in order to achieve one last accolade in his career. And it looks like the dynamic between him and Ben Herbert might be bringing them a little bit closer to their ultimate goal.

Jim Harbaugh, the current head coach for the LA Chargers, has been a brilliant coach for so many years now. During the last 2023 season, his team went 15-0 undefeated before finally bringing home the natty. Now that he’s starting a new journey with the Chargers and hoping to continue his glory run, he’s glad that Herbert has joined him on the rollercoaster as the team starts training for the season.

As the next season draws to a close, the Chargers’ coach has given an update on his first meeting with the team. The natty-winning coach will be leading the men in blue in his debut season and will have his former colleague, Ben Herbert, joining him. Herbert, who was previously the strength coach for the Wolverines, decided to follow Harbaugh’s steps to the Chargers.

In his recent statement, Harbaugh shared the pivotal importance of having Herbert onboard after the meeting with the team. He said, “We just got right into football, putting the schemes in offensively and defensively, baseline training. Ben Herbert is huge in this Phase 1.” The dynamic pairing of Harbaugh-Herbert could be a big step in the grand plan of pursuing a Super Bowl for the Chargers. They’ve accomplished everything in the NCAA and now will be hoping to continue their magic in the NFL as well. In the latest press conference, executive director of player performance, Ben Herbert spoke to the media to talk about beginning his journey with the Chargers. He spoke about the team and how ecstatic he is to get to know the roster better.

Herbert said, “To say I’m excited would be an understatement, I think because the key is you know, I’m here to meet and to work with the guys and I think today the cool part about it was that opportunity was afforded. It was my first time. There’s some guys that I had met up to this point but it’s my first time to be with the group. For me to feel their energy and to start the dialogue of what we call training so the excitement. There’s no doubt about my excitement and ultimately after I reflect on how today went, their excitement seemed to match mine. So it was great!” Thus, the coach along with Harbaugh might be able to scale the Chargers’ program to greater heights as the offseason finally begins.
