Is Dylan Raiola setting himself up for failure by trying to mimic Patrick Mahomes' every move?

The resemblance might deceive you sometimes. Talking about the legendary QB for Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, the talk of the town is that he has a doppelgänger in the same football fraternity. Well, the situation is way too unusual to cross paths with someone who looks the same as you.

People might not be able to differentiate at one glance if they look at Dylan Raiola, who is the said doppelgänger and even Patrick agreed with this fact. Though Dylan has been mimicking Patrick recently from his arriving at Nebraska Cornhuskers’ fall camp looking exactly like Patrick to now another incident, after which the fans took up the internet and started ripping off Dylan for his act.

We all know that Patrick Mahomes, from leading the Chiefs to victory in Super Bowl LIV to winning multiple MVP awards, is setting the bar high and is even predicted to be the next Tom Brady in the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, with that being said, who would not like to look and act like him? The same goes for Dylan Raoila. There is a lot of time for the 5-star freshman Dylan to get into the professional league, but that does not stop him from copying the alleged upcoming GOAT! But guess what? Seems like the fans all over the internet are not liking it. After the NFL’s official X page posted a picture of Dylan looking exactly like Patrick with a caption, TRENDING: 5-star Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola showed up for camp looking exactly like Patrick Mahomes. Raiola has said that he plans to MIMIC & copy everything Mahomes does, they even train with the same coach.” The football community came up against this act of Dylan mimicking. One of the X users tweeted as a comment to the post by NFL, “That’s cringe asf 😂” This obviously might seem cringe to some as no one would like to see someone copying a person and would want them to have some individuality.

This whole debate started when, for the first time, Raiola arrived at the Cornhuskers’ fall camp and he looked exactly like Patrick. From Daylan’s hair to facial hair to even sunglasses, people could not tell both of them apart. Raiola wore ski glasses with a haircut similar to that of Patrick. Even Patrick’s former teammate could not hold it back. He clicked and picture and uploaded it. Which went viral in the blink of an eye. It was then shared further by Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill who once played for Kansas City. He tagged Patrick and wrote, “Boy ain’t no way,”. To which Patrick also replied very positively and wrote, “That’s my lil cuzzo.” Clearly, for Patrick, it was fun to find a doppelgänger. But the football community states otherwise.

The fans aren’t such a big fan of the similarities

What’s your perspective on:

Is Dylan Raiola setting himself up for failure by trying to mimic Patrick Mahomes' every move?

Have an interesting take?

The football community came in and made it clear to Dylan that they were not really with him in this mimic game of his, even though he is living up to it. An X user came in and in a comment to the NFL’s tweet wrote, “Get a personality dog”. Though the comment made also seems funny, asking him to get his personality. He is not just copying his looks but also seems be to on the way to copying his personality.

The hatred did not stop there. Some other X user came in and wrote, “Walmart Mahomes ladies and gentlemen!” By the statement user means to say that he looks like a try-hard Mahomes. Well, for sure, there is a lot of time for Dylan to come into the real play, unlike Patrick, who has already made his mark clear. Hence the surrounding hatred already acting like he is fine to be copying Patrick with no real stance, even though he is a five-star QB himself.

Some other users also came into the conversation going around about Dylan’s look. He commented, “That’s so weird 😭” The stance behind this comment could be that he is just too put off by the whole thing around mimic and doppelgänger thing going around.

Another user came in and made it all more serious by bringing up some stronger allegations. He reposted the tweet by NFL and wrote in the caption, “This is how you know he’s gonna be the biggest flop 5-star QB in NCAA history” Well, that was a huge statement right there. It’s really important not to appreciate baseless claims. Clear hate was visible when he wrote this statement, ripping into Dylan like that.

With that hatred and speculations going around, we never know whose stars go on shining when. Now that Dylan has joined Matt Rhule‘s Nebraska, even when he had so many top offers from programs like Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and others, Dylan chose Nebraska. He made this choice because he felt a strong connection with Matt. During an interview with Rivals.com, he was heard saying, “I always believed Nebraska was in my blood, it was in my heart, for a long time… The thing that separates Coach Rhule from a lot of people is just the way he connects with the players.”

Now, with the start of the season, Nebraska’s first game is against the UTEP Miners on September 1st. Let us see what difference Dylan would be able to make in the game to stop the hatred going on around him. Will he be able to prove that he is worthy of the fame? Stay connected to know!
