It’s a day of celebration in the city of Colorado as one of their sons has made it to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2024.  After a 17-year-long glorious career, Chauncey Billups is being given his due honor and the fans couldn’t be more proud of the man who once rose from the University of Boulder.

Chauncey Billups gave 17 years of his life to the NBA and lent his talent to several teams like the Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timber Wolves, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, and the LA Clippers. Moreover, he ranks 7th in NBA history for his career free-throw rate which stands at an impressive 0.894 percent. Now that he’s stepped into the world of coaching, the NBA community is looking on to the Pistons’ legend today.

As per a recent update, Chauncey Billups, the current head coach for the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA, has been given his share of the plaudits for an exceptional career as one of the all-time greats. Once a Buff himself, he’s being honored by the football team today. On X, the team’s official Twitter account posted a photo of him and Deion Sanders.

Billups was one of the star players at the University of Colorado-Boulder, who went on to make a huge name for himself. He was later drafted into the NBA, where he went on to win the 2004 NBA championship with the Detroit Pistons. In 2004, he was named the Finals MVP and now 20 years later, has been elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. It’s Billups’ time now and the Buffaloes along with the city of Colorado are standing right behind him with their immense love and support as he celebrates his storied career. With all that said, here’s Billups expressing his gratitude for receiving his due honor.

In his overall 17-season career, the 47-year-old averaged 15.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 1,043 games for seven teams. As such, it didn’t shock the fans when he was announced to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Moreover, during his time in Colorado, he won the Mr. Basketball award three times and Colorado Player of the Year twice before going on to establish his dominance in the NFL.

And now, Billups expressed his gratefulness for the title as he looks back at his exceptional career in retrospect. He said, “I am humbled to be part of this year’s class for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. As an NBA Champion and as an NBA All-Star, I strived to play the game the right way. To have my place beside the all-time great players and individuals in the sport of basketball is truly a great honor.” Thus, it’s a great day to be a Buffs’ as well as an NBA fan as both sides couldn’t be prouder of Chauncey Billups today.
