There have been rumors that the New York Jets are interested in signing Williams. However, Williams is currently under a 3-year contract with a $60 million agreement that he signed in 2022. He has a base salary of $17 million, but his cap hit is $32.5 million. This adds another layer of complexity to trade discussions, and there is a significant cap hit if he remains on his current deal. Meanwhile, another GM predicted that either Bosa or Mack could end up with the Lions.
As the Chargers navigate the Jim Harbaugh era, decisions regarding players like Mack and Bosa become more important. Mack will be entering the final year of a $141 million contract in 2024, while Bosa will be entering the fourth year of a five-year, $135 million deal next season. However, cutting both of them can save the Chargers up to $14.6 million and $23.5 million, respectively.

As ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said earlier, it would be “shocking” if Los Angeles released them all to save $80.8 million in cap space. He also pointed out that all four of them returning with their current contract would raise eyebrows as well. With potential cap space savings looming, the team must weigh the financial implications against the on-field contributions of these star players.
