It seems increasingly likely that the Chicago Bears will use their coveted No. 1 draft pick to select USC star quarterback Caleb Williams. After trading Justin Fields, the team zeroed in on Williams, and their interest is quite clear now.

Bears’ General Manager Ryan Poles and coach Matt Eberflus attended USC’s pro day with their large contingent to watch Caleb Williams’ play. Eberflus even had a brief moment with Williams’ father. Meanwhile, Williams also met with the Bears at the NFL Combine, furthering the connection. Most recently, he dined with the team and made a strong impression. Not just that, the Bears players even gave Williams a thumbs-up after dinner. Now, he’s looking more likely to become their next franchise quarterback.

The Chicago Bears recently completed their final evaluation of USC quarterback Caleb Williams, the expected No. 1 draft pick. Williams visited Chicago this week for a Top 30 meeting with a dinner at Sophia Steaks. Earlier reports of Caleb Williams dining with the Chicago Bears included front-office members and current players. While some executives missed the dinner, this shouldn’t worry fans. MLFootball recently stated on their X handle that “Caleb Williams’ dinner with Bears players in Chicago went extremely well and the players really liked Caleb.” Sources indicate that multiple players found him “cool” and “humble.”

Williams reportedly dined with many veteran players like DJ Moore. This visit also marks the final step in the Bears’ thorough evaluation of Williams. After extensive meetings and analysis, both on and off the field, it seems Chicago has found their new franchise quarterback.

Caleb was long under the laser beam focus of the Bears

The Chicago Bears have been laser-focused on USC quarterback Caleb Williams since the NFL Scouting Combine. A late-night meeting there allowed them to assess his knowledge and personality. This focus further deepened with a large contingent traveling to his pro day, including head coach Matt Eberflus and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. The Bears secured a Top 30 visit with Williams following this strong showing. Now, it seems like this visit was a success, with both players and coaches impressed. This visit might have included drills, on-field workouts, and even medical examinations. Caleb Williams previously declined to provide medicals at the Combine. Thus, completing these evaluations might further strengthen the Bears’ understanding of Williams as a potential franchise quarterback.
