Patrick Mahomes to Kliff Kingsbury’s rescue! The USC quarterbacks coach is garnering heavy criticism for his decision to enter the league again by interviewing with the Bears for the offensive coordinator position. While fans were busy throwing shade at him for the same, his former student-athlete, whom the NFL reveres as one of the best QBs in the league, begged their pardon.
Patrick Mahomes, a Texas Tech Raid alum, learned some good tips under Kingsbury between 2015-1016. So good that he is now acclaimed for having the most impressive stats in the league as compared to the active players. Now that another batch of alumni student-athletes who trained under Kingsbury embark on their NFL journey in the 2024 NFL draft, it takes Patrick Mahomes down memory lane. As a result, he expresses genuine gratitude towards Kingsbury.

Kingsburg isn’t one of them, which Mahomes reported as a key factor behind his flourishing as a QB in the league when he entered the Draft right after his junior year.

Giving the ultimate slap to the nay-sayers face, he said, “He helped me become the player that I am,” crediting his success to his former head coach.
However, the Chiefs’ QB did not forget to mention Andy Ried as well.
