When Chiefs Nation witnessed Patrick Mahomes hobbling around the field during Super Bowl LVII, it seemed like their worst fears were coming to pass. After the QB suffered a high ankle sprain in January, the threat of the issue’s recurrence during the final showdown was imminent. He said, “You [sic] not the only one playing with a f*cked up ankle huh?” as the Chiefs’ QB laughed along.
Their interaction was caught on camera and sent fans into a frenzy. At present, James will be reassessed for his injury and the date of his return might take a while to arrive. While Mahomes looks much better now, that wasn’t the case a few weeks ago.

Mahomes pressed forward through the pain
The intense rivalry between the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs is fueled by events that have occurred on and off the field. Ranging from comments from the Cincinnati Mayor to Mahomes’ past losing record against the Bengals, everything came down to the AFC title game.
Joseph Ossai was flagged for a late hit against Mahomes. That set up a 45-yard field goal for the Chiefs to take home the victory. But, Ossai’s hit on Mahomes pushed the latter out of bounds and seemingly aggravated his injury. Regardless, the QB pushed through the pain. Two weeks later, as the confetti rained down on State Farm Stadium, Mahomes held the Vince Lombardi Trophy- the best end to an unforgettable season.
