This year’s NBA playoffs have had a very surprising turn of events. While everyone expected LeBron James to pave his way to another Larry O Brien trophy, his postseason run was cut short. Soon after, there have been some rumors about James retiring from the NBA. There have even been comparisons between his departure rumors and the way NFL legend, Tom Brady retired. Interestingly, there have been speculations from other sources around the NFL who’ve taken to predicting King James’ future. One such celebrated player to predict James’ future moves is Rob Gronkowski.

Gronk made an appearance on Kay Adams’ show and she asked Gronk about his speculations for LeBron’s future. Interestingly, the former tight end had an interesting take on James’ future. He also connected LeBron’s future in the NBA to that of his son.

Rob Gronkowski predicts King James’ future

While on Kay Adams’ show, Gronk revealed his true thoughts on James’ career. While a huge number of basketball fans are predicting a sad retirement from James, Gronk predicted differently. Gronk went on to speculate that the embarrassing defeat in the playoffs will not be the end of LeBron’s career. He went on to state that James himself is in impeccable health and is performing outstandingly for a 38-year-old.

Furthermore, Gronk also mentioned that LeBron might have the ulterior motive of continuing his play because he wants to play with his son in the NBA. He went on to say, “I think he’s gonna play until he can at least get one year with his son.  I think that would be extremely legendary that would be magnificent if he does that it’d be the first time we ever seen anything like that and it would be mind-blowing, I would love to see that. But the way that he’s playing he’s at such a high level.”

Interestingly, James himself has been very open about wanting to play with his son, Bronny James on the highest level of basketball. The highest scorer has made it clear that he wants to see his son on the court with him.

LeBron’s motivation to continue playing

LeBron’s biggest strength as a basketball player has been his longevity and his health while playing. While facing multiple injuries throughout his career, LeBron has always come back stronger. Even at the age of 38, he is playing more than 40 minutes and dunking over players decades younger than him. On top of this, he has another reason to not retire.

He wants to play with his rising star of a son, Bronny James Jr. Bronny has been a rising star in the high school circuit and is now committed to a D-1 school. With such a rising future, it is very possible that James will get a chance to play with his son as soon as two years down the line. LeBron has even made it clear that he wants to share the court with his son, whether it’s against him or with him. As per Gronk, this gives James another reason to delay his retirement.

While LeBron did have a very embarrassing exit from the playoffs, speculations of his retirement were not something fans were expecting. However, only the sands of time will reveal if Gronk was right about LeBron’s decisions regarding his career.
