In recent times, the NCAA games have been gaining a lot of traction. Athletes, both retired and current, have been expressing their interest in the games. As the NCAAW basketball championship came to an end, the NFL fraternity took to Twitter to voice out their thoughts about the game. One such player was the linebacker from Dallas, Micah Parsons. Furthermore, even retired NFL running back, OJ Simpson took to Twitter to talk about the LSU-Iowa State championship game.
Juice took to Twitter to share his two cents on the game. The ex-Buffalo Bills running back spoke about his fascination with the way Iowa State’s star player performed. Furthermore, he mentioned the kind of benefits players have been earning by staying in college and playing for their teams.

While going pro is every athlete’s dream, the amount of money you make has a huge impact on this decision. Furthermore, with NCAA players being able to get paid, playing for their college might be more lucrative. As might be the case with Caitlin Clark, Simpson played out the scene perfectly as he took to Twitter to talk about it.

He mentioned how college players nowadays have the option to make a huge amount through their sport. He further said that Clark should think about coming back to Iowa as it might be more lucrative than playing in the WNBA. Juice specifically said, “I think it’s pretty cool that they can make money. She’ll probably make more money being player of the year coming back to Iowa than you can make in the WNBA. I think the highest-paid salary in the WNBA is something like $238,000. This girl will probably make a million or more staying in college.”

Interestingly, OJ Simpson is not very far from the truth. Only in her junior year, Clark had managed to rake in a significant amount of warnings due to her flair on the court.

Caitlin Clark’s phenomenal earnings as a junior in college
While OJ’s million-dollar valuation seems high, his speculations aren’t very far off. With the era of NIL ( Name, Image, Likeness) deals booming in NCAA, Clark has become one of the top 10 paid in women’s basketball with her NIL deal. She has already made close to $200,000 just as a junior in college. Furthermore, given that an average contract in the WNBA would be close to $350,000 over 4 seasons. In terms of how much she could earn per year, playing as long as she can in the NCAA tournament would be more lucrative.
With her college career trajectory going as it has been, Clark has the potential to make more as a college player instead of immediately going pro. It only remains to be seen what decision she will make before the beginning of next year’s season.
