The widespread fraternity of professional sports was taken aback by something that recently happened. After Ja Morant went on to get into trouble as he was shown flashing a gun on Instagram Live. Renowned athletes, analysts, and fans have gone on to share their conflicting opinions on Morant’s behavior. The incident has become charged with different nuances of race, the public image of athletes, as well as gun control. However, recently, an ex-teammate of Patrick Mahomes voiced their opinion.
This ex-teammate went on to publically comment on Twitter after some images of Morant went viral. Interestingly, the former teammate’s statement touched upon a very pertinent debate among the masses.

Ex-teammate of Patrick Mahomes gets real on Twitter
Former Chiefs player, Boomer Mays made a controversial comment about the Ja Morant incident. He took to Twitter to comment on a few images of the NBA star. The pictures are very closely connected to the controversy over Morant’s incident on Instagram live. Furthermore, May’s comments touched upon one of the most debated topics in the United States.

Mays’ tweet touch upon the debate on gun control. While his question seemed like a simple one, there have been a lot of prominent athletes and celebrities who have raised similar ones. There was also an influence of race as former first-round NBA pick, Kwame Brown spoke about the incident. He brought in the influence of how people might have viewed a white athlete like Tom Brady if he was found in possession of a gun. However, even though Mahomes’ old teammate has been vocal about it, the quarterback himself hasn’t said anything about the incident.
Interestingly, Mahomes had gone on to showcase his support for Morant very publically on Twitter for a different reason altogether.
Mahomes’ support for Morant
Mahomes might not have said anything about the incident, but he has showcased his support for Morant in the past. When Morant went on to have an amazing game prior to his incident, Mahomes showcased his support for the Grizzlies’ player. Incidentally, Morant had achieved something monumental in the game that Mahomes was praising.

While Mahomes has shared his support for Morant in the good moments, he has been oddly silent while the NBA star has faced a lot of flak from a lot of different sources.

It is curious to see how the NFL world has been reacting to the incident. However, only time will be able to tell what Mahomes’ true thoughts are on the incident.
