NFL players are some of the most athletic professional sports players. Even in comparison to other sports, NFL players have a clear physical advantage. Even after retirement, a lot of NFL players retain their athletic abilities, and for them, playing other sports is easier. Such was also the case of a certain NFL retired Pro Bowler. He went on to prove that with his physical prowess, he could even conquer another sport like basketball.
The one Pro-Bowler who has gone on to prove his prowess even in basketball is none other than DK Metcalf. Just earlier this year, he showcased his skill during the NBA All-Star weekend and that is not where his interest in basketball stopped. He recently took to social media as well to praise a former NBA player that he appreciates.

Metcalf has always used his social media to express his excitement for different sports as well as other individuals and this time was no different. The former wide receiver showcased his appreciation for the talent of the basketball court. He took to his Instagram story to showcase a small clip of basketball star, Antonio Blakeney. Reportedly, the video on his story was of a young Blakeney, presumably in high school.

Intriguingly, Blakeney was able to actually make it big in the world of basketball. Blakeney went on to become an undrafted free agent who was then picked up by the Chicago Bulls. He spent two years with the Bulls, playing only 76 games. After that, the shooting guard has taken his talents to the Jiangsu Dragons, a pro team in the league conducted by the Chinese Basketball Association. Interestingly, Metcalf himself has had a huge affinity for the sport of basketball. The wide receiver himself saw a great amount of success in basketball this year.

DK Metcalf’s basketball shenanigans
The receiver isn’t just one to showcase appreciation on Instagram. He recently went on to play in the annual NBA All-Star Celebrity game. Metcalf was a part of Team Dwayne. The ex-wide receiver was all over the court with some brilliant moves. He played so well that he even went on to win the MVP honors of the Celebrity All-Star game. He ended the game with 20 points and 10 rebounds to end the game in an 81-78 victory.
While Metcalf might have retired from the sport of football, he has never stopped to prove that in terms of athleticism, he is still brilliant. It only remains to be seen if Metcalf will continue playing basketball and showing his affinity for the sport.
