The Colorado Buffaloes QB got candid about Ja Morant and the controversy around the NBA star’s strip club visit. In fact, he pointed out what he does differently to avoid such potholes altogether.

Morant fell in hot water last month when he live-streamed from a Colorado strip club with a gun. What followed was a slew of additional controversies that affected Morant’s run in the NBA. So how does the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders hope to avoid such situations?

Shedeur Sanders opened up about the Ja Morant controversy on a recent podcast appearance. He emphasized on the fact that it is the company that makes and breaks an individual.

“If you got strong minded individuals around you, like that don’t do things that other people do,” the young QB said on the ‘I Am Athlete’ podcast.

The Colorado Buffaloes QB then pointed out what he does differently so that he avoids such controversies. He is of the opinion that it is all about being in the right mindset.

“I don’t really hang around people who drink like that. Like I don’t because I don’t drink, they don’t drink…It’s definitely like just being in your right mind at all times,” Sanders added.

Sanders will take the field for the Buffaloes next college football season after shining for Jackson State in the last couple of years. He moved his base after the Buffaloes appointed his father and Dallas Cowboys legend Deion Sanders as their head coach. And he is ready for the new challenge. On the other hand, Morant rejoined the Memphis Grizzlies after serving a suspension. But what exactly was the matter?

The Ja Morant controversy 

The controversy began early in March when Ja Morant brandished a gun during a live-stream from a Colorado strip club. Reports emerged after the incident about a lap dance involving Morant in the same facility. As the controversy raged on, he stepped away from the Grizzlies pending an inquiry.

The NBA suspended Morant for eight games, including the six games he missed voluntarily. He rejoined the team for the game against the Dallas Mavericks later in March.

The controversy has run its course and Morant has come out of it relatively unscathed. The $193 million star is ready for the upcoming playoff after the Grizzlies clinched a spot in the postseason.
