After beating the Portland Trail Blazers team on Wednesday, LeBron James gave a fiery post-game press conference. In this presser, he was asked questions of the reporters regarding Jerry Jones’ Desegregation protest photo. He fired back at the media for showing double standards regarding the controversies surrounding Kyrie Irving and Jerry Jones. After that interview, Jones finally gave a response to LeBron’s comments.

Notably, Jones faced a lot of backlash regarding a photo from 1957, where he appeared to be standing at the Desegregation protest, trying to stop 6 African American students from entering the North Little Rock High School.

Jerry Jones responds to LeBron James’ comments

In a recent interview, Jones mentioned that he heard what LBJ had to say about his controversy. In reply, the Cowboys owner said, First of all, you have to hear me say how much I think of LeBron. I don’t know of anybody I respect more.

Notably, James has always been a great Cowboys fan, and it made Jones really happy. According to Jones, the Lakers star could have become a great tight end.

Then, the Cowboys owner talked about James’ influence on the sport and media. “I did hear what he had to say… Certainly, he has influence, and just because of all of the above, his accomplishments, how he’s utilized his sport and how he utilized his platform. How we have done it. He has enhanced basketball, he’s made a lot of people a lot of money. I hope I have, too,” Jones further said.

Notably, LBJ was asked plenty of times regarding his former teammate, Kyrie Irving’s controversial tweet, which got him suspended for 8 games. However, James did not get any questions regarding the Jones controversy; hence, he took a dig at the media for trying to bury the news.

Initially, the controversy started when the Washington Post posted that photo of Jones and wrote an article about it. When asked about the photo, the Cowboys’ owner confirmed that it was indeed him. However, he clarified that he did not know what was actually going on as a 14-year-old kid back then. As a curious kid, he was just standing there.

He further emphasized the fact that those things should never happen right now in this day and age. Despite his explanations, many fans and analysts still criticized him. However, many of them backed him as well, like sports journalist Stephen A. Smith, and former Cowboys player Pacman Jones.
