Deion Sanders had an unforgettable family moment in Colorado. As head coach of the University of Colorado Boulder football team, the former NFL star led his team to victory in their first game of the season on Saturday. But just before kickoff against Texas Christian University, he had some coaching and fatherly duties to attend to.
This game not only marked Deion’s first coaching appearance of the season for the Buffaloes, following his previous coaching stint at Jackson State, but it was also a special moment for his son, Shilo, who made his debut on the team. In May, the former Jackson State defensive player decided to join his dad and his brother, 21-year-old quarterback Shedeur, in Boulder. Before the game, Coach Prime shared a heartwarming video that touched millions, even stirring emotions in NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

Before Saturday’s game, Deion shared his “dream,” expressing his desire to jog onto the field with his team. In 2021, he underwent the amputation of his left big toe and second toe, and he currently wears a protective boot on his left foot due to a blood clot procedure in June. Given his circumstances, he explained that a “nice, little comfortable jog” would be sufficient.
Deion Sanders turned this dream into reality just before the kickoff when he jogged onto the field with his students and sons, Shilo and Shedeur. Images from the away game at Amon G. Carter Stadium captured a heartwarming moment between Deion and his son, defensive back Shilo Sanders, as they shared a hug and an apparent prayer before the big game. Hours later, Deion and his team secured a victory, defeating the Horned Frogs with a score of 45-42 in the highly anticipated matchup.
