Many fans want the name to change back to the former name but that did not shake Harris’ decision not to change the name. He wanted the conversation about the name to end as it was becoming a distraction so he clarified that publicly on Friday afternoon.

The full-time contractor for BroBible, Dov Kleiman reported about the sports team owner’s thoughts. Harris said, “There was a portion of our fanbase that felt disrespected by the former name. Sports are supposed to bring people together and not be a distraction.” He also added that it was crucial for him to end the conversation as he didn’t want any more distractions.
The team may not change it back to the former name, but the possibility of the name changing is not zero. The name can change to a completely new name but not the previous one. The co-owner, Mitchell Rales also said that the ship sailed a long time ago. Harris and other owners’ ownership of the Commanders was recently announced on Friday, 21st July. The District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland, all three are competing against each other as to where the stadium must be built. All three want the much-needed new stadium to be built in their locality.
