A decisive out-of-bounds toe of Isaiah Likely brought back horrifying memories for Kevin Durant fans as the NFL season kicked off. During the end seconds of the first game between Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens, Isaiah’s toe was a little out of line on a pass from Lamar Jackson that ultimately cost the Ravens the game. Surprisingly, a similar visual had once slammed the championship ambitions of Kevin Durant with the Brooklyn Nets superteam in 2021.
The Slim Reaper, as usual, took the responsibility to get past the Bucks’ trouble in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. He played almost all minutes, and when the game was on a close call during the last quarter, he went for a three-pointer. At this juncture, the Nets were down by two points, and they would have won the match.
However, Durant’s toe was a little over the three-point line that got his team only two points. Eventually, as we all know, the game went overtime, and the Bucks clinched the series and then the Championship. Last Thursday night was kind of a reminder for the fans of that heartbreak.

Kansas City dodged the loss by a 27-20 win. However, during the post-game press conference, a sense of confidence was oozing from Isaiah’s comment as he responded, “This is probably the worst game we gonna play all year. So if this their best that they got, I mean, good luck in the postseason.” On the other end, Patrick Mahomes showed no signs of a clash as he took a jibe at Isaiah Likely, stating, “Wear white cleats next time.”
Though Isaiah had confidence for the future, Kevin Durant and the fans, on the contrary, in the NBA world, were reminded of their sorrow after that supposed three-pointer.

Even Kevin Durant remembers his arc step down as he admitted to JJ Redick in 2022, “Yeah, I knew it was. It’s weird that you can feel that type of stuff. As soon as I stepped on it, I was like, ‘Damn.'” He could not do anything about it. However, the recent sight of Isaiah Likely scratched the painful memories of Kevin Durant fans. And the one who joined the trend to make it even worse was the Milwaukee Bucks’ official X handle. The Bucks admin, without giving away more than necessary, commented, “Game of inches.👟”
No doubt that the Bucks front office not only launched a shot at the Ravens but also targeted Kevin Durant and the ex-Superteam that faced the same kind of luck in 2021. One of the fans got a little dizzy recalling the heartbreak as he commented, “Accurate. 🥴” The emoji itself was enough to showcase the emotional rollercoaster the person must’ve experienced.

Another fan shared the same incident from the game between the Lakers and Timberwolves on 2024 New Year’s Eve. Three points down in the fourth quarter, AD rebounded a miss from Mike Conley and King James, then attempted a three-pointer. However, the referee awarded only two points and kept the decision after the review.

Later, when the image of the review got out, fans concluded that LeBron James‘ feet were a little bit behind the three-point line. However, the referee did not buy it, and that’s why the fans shared those visuals of him shouting with the caption, “More like.”
Meanwhile, a die-hard Kevin Durant fan did not even want to remember the terrifying past. He commented on the X post, “Shit not funny, bro.” All in all, it was a bad day for the Ravens, but that was a close call. Greats don’t repeat the mistakes. So it might never be a next time like this from either side, whether it’s Isaiah Likely or Kevin Durant.
