The Washington Commanders’ playoff win on Sunday night sent a wave of excitement through NFL fans. The reason? Their victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended an almost two-decade-long drought for the franchise. In a nail-biting NFC Wild Card showdown, Washington edged past the Buccaneers with a dramatic 23-20 victory.

Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels stole the spotlight with an extraordinary performance. He threw for 268 yards and made two touchdowns during the game. While the team celebrated their monumental achievement, one notable fan, NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr., captured the mood of the fanbase perfectly. He shared an emotional message for his team, revealing what this victory meant for the fans.

This victory held significance beyond the scoreboard. The Commanders have faced years of inconsistency, and their loyal supporters have endured countless disappointments. After the win, Dale Jr. reflected similar sentiments. He took on the social media platform X and revealed that his little daughters also love the team now.

“I have been a Washington fan since 1982. It’s been a long run. Some good. Some bad. But it’s amazing to be nervous for a playoff game again. And my little girls or growing to love the team. They just might have a lot of fun over the next several years,” NASCAR Hall of Famer posted on X. Dale Jr.’s tweet painting a picture of emotional investment, as he admitted how nervous he was during the game.

Notably, this is not the first time when Dale Earnhardt Jr. has openly supported the Commanders. A few days ago, when Washington beat Dallas in a match, Dale Jr. had taken a sly dig on his cousins. He first posted, “Hey @Commanders. Hell of a job today. Proud fan.” However, after some time, he playfully teased his cousins; “Now texting my cousins Tony Jr and Danny Jr who are Dallas fans. Goodwin @Commanders.”

It’s worth noting that Dale Jr. wasn’t the only one in the NASCAR world reacting to Washington’s win. RFK Racing driver Brad Keselowski joined the festivities, posting, “Cya next week @Commanders Go @Lions,” reflecting the clash between two NASCAR legends.

Keselowski is a Michigan native and the Detroit Lions are the team from his home state. Given the Lions’ meteoric rise in the last few years, Keselowski must harbor similar feelings to Dale Jr.

Brad Keselowski slams NASCAR playoff format

In recent weeks, Brad Keselowski has voiced his concerns about NASCAR’s potential adoption of playoff models resembling those of the NFL, NHL, and MLB. During the NASCAR Awards, Keselowski reiterated his preference for maintaining the sport’s unique identity.

I’m a bit of a traditionalist in some ways,” Keselowski admitted. He argued that NASCAR should prioritize rewarding consistency and victories rather than luck. “If Jim France called me and said, ‘Brad, you’re in charge…,’ I honestly think the points format should be reflected in wins. And the tiebreaker should have been the final race.

When asked about comparisons to the NFL, Keselowski distanced NASCAR from other leagues. “We keep getting caught up in comparisons to other sports. We’re in a lot of ways better. We have all of our competitors competing against each other every week. I don’t want to be in the NFL, hockey, or MLB.

His comments reflect a broader sentiment within the NASCAR community. Many drivers, including Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin, have advocated for the change in the format. They have questioned the system’s fairness and how it undermines regular-season races.
