Mostly, for Hamlin, the over 20 years of support from Joe Gibbs is playing a crucial cornerstone in shaping his racing career. Despite this, he couldn’t resist reflecting his honest views on the Washington Commanders team.

In the excitement surrounding the upcoming Super Bowl, his praise for Joe Gibbs and frank assessment of the Commanders were delivered simultaneously.

During the NFL season, every game has a lot of excitement among players and fans, right from going through the regular season, then qualifying, Now, as the Super Bowl LIX is about to make room for the decided winners on February 9 from the Conference Championship Game that will be held on January 26. The competition is going to be exciting as this playoff matchup marked the 4th clash for the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. However, another interesting match that stimulates interest in the viewers, especially for the Washington people, is between the Commanders and Eagles. 

Denny Hamlin’s interest in the NFL alike other NFL fans. He often enjoys expressing his thoughts on games and interacting with fans over the same via his social media account. Keeping up with his similar interests and excitement for the coming day’s Super Bowl match, he posted a story on Instagram, with his picture in a racing suit and doing a photoshoot answering a call, while keeping the red color telephone in his hand, he wrote in a story asking, “Action Detrimental returns in 2 weeks. What’s been on your mind?”

In the next story he shared, one of his followers answered, with his unique realistic approach to the same. His follower’s reply was, “If Washington will win the Super Bowl.” In response to that Denny shared, a picture of him standing wearing a racing suit and holding a pen and paper, while in his background there was an image of a small boy, where he wrote, “The last time @commanders won the Super Bowl I was this old.”

Hamlin took a cheeky dig at JGR founder Joe Gibbs, about the team he once mentored. As Hamlin hinted, the picture was from when he was roughly 12 years old, in the year 1992, when the Commanders last won the Super Bowl. At the helm was Joe Gibbs, a NASCAR Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame veteran. Ever since that dominant victory, things just haven’t been the same with Super Bowls, and the lack of a trophy has made their struggles quite evident.

In a manner of speaking, it was testament to the work Gibbs put in for the team. 1992 was his last year as coach, and following that, the team went on a downward spiral. Speaking about his time with the team, Gibbs once said, “It’s been a fun ride for me since training camp. They all like each other, and the chemistry has been terrific. I’ve kind of gone along for the trip with them. We know we aren’t a great team and that we have to play hard and together to win. And that’s what we did.”

Perhaps with Hamlin taunting the team, they can come up with magic to shock fans. Regardless, Denny Hamlin has bigger things on his plate.

Hamlin’s time to face challenges or a room full of opportunities?

With changes happening inside Joe Gibbs Racing, mainly Chris Gabehart taking the role of Director of Racing, Denny Hamlin had his fill of change. After all, just a little while before the change, his main sponsor FedEx had revealed they would be leaving the sport. In such a time, there is some hope for Hamlin.

JGR’s old sponsor Sport Clips backed Denny Hamlin for the 2025 season as a new sponsor, the exciting news of which he shared over his Instagram video post with unboxing a gift and featuring a transparent hat, that acting as their new promotional campaign. They’ve also sponsored him in his earlier races, like in 2017 and 2020. 

It’s not the end of the list, as a big part of the news was him getting the support of multi-year sponsorship from King’s Hawaiian for four major races. These are Atlanta Motor Speedway in the summer, the August Daytona International Speedway, and the fall Bristol Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway races. Speaking about the arrival of the new sponsor, Hamlin said, “We’re very excited to welcome King’s Hawaiian to our team. It’s certainly a product we are very familiar with in our household and a great brand that has made a strong commitment to our sport. I’m looking forward to all the exciting things that we can do on and off the track to elevate their program to the next level.”
