The NFC Championship Game will feature a high-stakes battle between the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles. Scheduled for Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, the game promises thrilling action as both teams aim for a spot in the Super Bowl. The Eagles, coming off impressive victories against the Packers and Rams, enter as 6-point favorites. The Eagles made the Super Bowl in 2023, but the last time the Commanders were there? Well, one NASCAR entity knows all about that time.
The Commanders have proven their mettle as underdogs, defeating the Buccaneers and Lions in the last two rounds. This will be their second meeting of the ongoing season after the Commanders took the win 36-33 in December. The Commanders look to make the Super Bowl for the first time since Joe Gibbs was their coach back in 1992! And it’s no surprise to see his grandson pulling for the Commanders.
Notably, in the second game Buffalo Bills will take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The winners from these two matches will face each other for the prestigious Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans. As the buildup for the game continues, two NASCAR personalities have voiced their verdicts on the Super Bowl. While diehard KC Chiefs fan Clint Bowyer made a bold prediction of Kansas winning the battle, Joe Gibbs’ grandson Ty Gibbs rubbished his claims.

A matter of pride for Ty Gibbs
As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for the AFC Championship against the Buffalo Bills, Clint Bowyer’s confidence is unwavering. The NASCAR commentator believes Patrick Mahomes will lead the Chiefs to another Super Bowl appearance. Speaking with Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, Bowyer passionately defended his team.
Despite Chief’s amazing track record making 4 of the last 5 Super Bowls and winning three of them, former Commanders Head Coach Joe Gibbs’ grandson and NASCAR driver, Ty Gibbs, disregarded Clint’s claims. In a conversation with Fox Sports, he said, “I really don’t care what he (Clint) says about it. The Super Bowl is in a couple of weeks, and I hope the Commanders can win and go play the Bills. I don’t think Kansas is going to make it. What did Clint say to elicit such a reaction? Well, he completely disregarded the NFC.

Bowyer told Bob Pockrass, “Don’t doubt Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. If that 15 jersey is on the field, put it in the bank—we’re going to the Super Bowl. This Bills game got me nervous… but I feel good about it. I think we’re going to do that and then go take care of business. I truly think the Super Bowls this weekend, obviously this is going to be aired prior to the Bills, and Chiefs game and Arrowhead, but I feel good about it. Full confidence.”
Bowyer’s prediction aligns with the Chiefs’ track record under Mahomes. This Sunday’s appearance marks the seventh consecutive AFC championship game for the Chiefs. They have a 4-2 track record in their last six AFC games. Notably, in 2020 they beat Bills to make it to the Super Bowl. However, this season Bills have dominated the Chiefs with a 30-21 win.
The Commanders have been an underdog story this postseason. Despite entering as the No. 6 seed, they’ve knocked out two tough opponents with commanding performances. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been sensational, and the defense has stepped up at crucial moments. If they manage to upset the Eagles, the Commanders will keep their Super Bowl dreams alive.
The Commanders have won three titles, all under the leadership of Joe Gibbs between 1983 to 1992. However, after Gibbs’s departure team has struggled to put up a show. 2025 marked their first non-wildcard playoff win of the 21st century. This season, their performance looks promising, as they are just two steps away from glory. For Ty Gibbs, a Commander’s win would be more than just a football triumph—it would honor his family’s storied history.

In his first two seasons, Ty Gibbs showed promise, winning Rookie of the Year honors in 2023 and making the playoffs last year. Though he hasn’t secured a Cup Series victory yet, he’s earned multiple top-five finishes and continues to improve.
