A recent update about an MLB Hall of Famer suggests another star is set to make the switch. But not in the capacity a good deal of fans might think or expect. The Hall of Famer took on a role in the NFL that seldom goes below the radar.

The winner of the 2001 World Series has had an extensive and successful career. But he also held had other passions that were close to his heart. Randy Johnson’s love for photography never faded even after spending 22 years in baseball. In a recent tweet by Dov Kleiman, Randy Johnson’s role as an NFL photographer came to light.

Randy Johnson has put his love for photography to work ever since he hung up his boots in MLB. Johnson studied photojournalism between 1983-85 and put his focus back on photography. This prompted him to move to an alternative path beyond baseball. His career in the MLB has earned him the opportunity to make numerous contacts that have furthered his photography career.

The switch to the NFL by Randy Johnson has added him to a small list of people to have made a career in baseball and football. But the capacity in which he has made the switch is arguably unique and unheard of. Some NFL stars could have gone the other way had they made different decisions in their careers.

Whenever baseball is mentioned in conjunction with the NFL, Patrick Mahomes is one of the first names that spring to mind. Having earned an opportunity from the Detroit Tigers earlier in his career, he could have followed his father’s footsteps and joined the MLB. But his love for football meant he never made the switch despite being drafted. Mahomes was joined by the likes of Russell Wilson and Tom Brady in choosing football over baseball.

Wilson attracted the attention of the mighty Yankees as he was called out twice in the draft. The Yankees still hold the rights for Wilson should he ever decide to play in the league as he ultimately traded baseball for football early on. Brady, on the other hand, made an impression on numerous scouts as he joined the Montreal Expos. But he never realized his stay in the MLB, opting for football instead and the rest is history.
