The Colorado Buffaloes are set to square off against Arizona State this Saturday. Both teams are looking to turn their trajectories with Arizona in pursuit of reversing a four-game losing streak that has followed their season opener victory, while Colorado seeks to rebound from back-to-back Pac-12 losses after a promising 3-0 start.

Colorado’s most recent triumph against ASU was a 34-31 win in 2019, whereas, last season, ASU secured a 42-34 victory over Colorado in Boulder. As anticipation builds for their match-up this season, Colorado’s Deion Sanders serves some motivating words of wisdom that are aimed at his team. He urges his players to buck up so that they can “continue to soar & establish new dreams & goals.”

Coach Prime’s message: The time is now

In a recent Instagram post, Colorado’s head coach Deion Sanders encapsulates the spirit of his team moving forward from two consecutive losses. Coach Prime has been successful in maintaining a positive outlook and environment despite defeats and urges his players to indulge in proper planning. He puts emphasis on the fact that time is extremely valuable and is running short, “You don’t have time to look back now, time to pat yourself on the back or time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.” 

Prime Time derives his inspiration from spirituality and has previously admitted to Jesus being his role model during an interview with the “7 Figure Squad.” “If there are athletes right now, in whatever sport, and you like their example on the field and also off the field, who would you tell them to watch,” the interviewer had asked Sanders, to which Sanders answered without hesitation “Jesus”.

“We got to be careful who we’re calling role models,” He went on to explain. However, his achievements with regard to the Colorado Buffaloes as the head coach, he sure has been a great, if not the best, role model.

Colorado Buffs’s odds against Arizona State University

Deion Sanders has actively turned a team that was a college football afterthought into a team of national interest despite two consecutive defeats. In terms of players, the team is leaving heavily on the coach’s son, Shedeur. 

Sanders is currently ranked second in the nation, boasting an impressive average of 356.20 passing yards per game. This translates to a total of 1,781 yards with 15 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Dillingham likened him to a quarterback of the caliber of USC’s Caleb Williams, emphasizing that you can’t completely shut him down, the best you can hope for is to contain him or limit the damage he inflicts.

The Buffaloes have faced significant challenges, particularly with the absence of two-way player Travis Hunter, who suffered a lacerated liver, and safety Shilo Sanders, who sustained an internal injury. Coach Prime mentioned earlier this week that Hunter is expected to be sidelined for “two or three weeks,” but there’s some positive news as Shilo returned to practice on Tuesday. Additionally, safety Myles Slusher rejoined practice this week after missing three games, while right tackle Savion Washington is unavailable due to an ankle injury.
