Retirement is as good or bad as one makes it. When it comes to the NFL, retirement seems to have hit two NFL icons very differently. While Gronk seems to be handling retirement like a ‘golden retriever’ embracing the change and finding the next interesting thing to get busy with, Brady is having a very different experience with retirement.

Rob Gronkowski sat down with Billy Bush on “Extra: The Podcast” to touch upon his friend Tom Brady, who recently signed a broadcasting deal with FOX Sports. The duo has been on the field together for almost every season in the past decade, with Gronkowski briefly retiring in 2019, a decision Brady successfully convinced him to reverse when he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the following year.

On January 20, 2024, Tom Brady, the iconic quarterback with a record seven Super Bowl victories, declared his retirement from football. This decision marked his second retirement announcement, following a reversal of his initial retirement in 2023 after just six weeks. On being suggested that Tom Brady has “taken it a little harder” as compared to Gronkowski, he told “Extra’s” Billy Bush that he is “not sure I haven’t seen him much” post-retirement. Gronk went on to reveal, “It seems like he’s in great spirit he’s in a great spot and he’s spending time with his family so it’s good to see that.”

After spending two and a half decades in the NFL, many had anticipated that Brady would ‘un-retire’ for a second time, but it seems Brady is finally getting the hang of the post-retirement life. His second retirement news came in the form of a simple Instagram post, where he conveyed deep appreciation for the love and support that have been integral to his personal and career achievements.

Fast forward to 2024, Brady finds himself penning yet another farewell post on Instagram, only this time it is for the “best coach in the history of the NFL.”
