“Hire Nick Saban”: USA Soccer Fans Urge Team to Replace Gregg Berhalter With Ex-Alabama HC Following Copa America Exit

The legendary Nick Saban is called in by the soccer fans for rescue. As they saw the U.S. Men’s Soccer team getting eliminated they leaned towards a legend of the American Football world. Urging him to come to the rescue and take over the reins from American football to soccer. Guide them and lead them in the WorldCup 2026.

On Monday, the United States was eliminated from the Copa America with a loss to Uruguay. Gregg Berhalter as a coach and the U.S. collectively hoped to show the team had advanced since its round-of-16 elimination against the Netherlands at the 2022 World Cup. Well, no one could witness the change that they hoped for and maybe that was the reason for frustrated fans storming Twitter, urging the staff to replace Gregg and have Nick Saban on board!

Why Nick seems to be a better option to fans?

The U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team could not even advance to the knockout stage. They started it with a 2-0 win against Bolivia, which indeed grew the hopes of U.S. Men Soccer Fans. But what happened afterward was not expected. They suffered a 2-1 defeat to Panama and a 3-1 loss to Uruguay. This was the reason for their standing in Group C and hence not qualifying for the knockout stage. Well, the loss was not well taken by the fans. Expressing his concern a fan tweeted, “Hire Nick Saban @USMNT”

Nick retired after 17 years with Crimson Tide, leading them to win 6 world championships! He has always proved his worth and is being nearly worshipped in the world of football. Seeing the team lose like that might have ignited the feelings of soccer fans and all they could think of was Nick who led the team to win 6 World Championships during his tenure hence the urge to call him on board!

Gregg after he was asked in the post-match interview whether he was the right man to lead the Americans into the 2026 World Cup. He said, “Yes”. Gregg seemed confident about it, yet he was realizing that the team was lacking somewhere. He accepted the fact that they lacked short this time. Accepting the loss he now is looking forward to finding the reason for this lack, he will make sure that everyone –  the staff, the players, and the sporting department sit together and see where they can improve.

Gregg seems to become a target for fans

The fans did not hesitate a bit while putting out their frustration towards Gregg after the elimination. One of the users tweeted, “nick saban is free…give him 3 months.” Hinting directly at the kind of belief that fans have in Nick, how with his magic wand he can cure all the problems.

Some even commented, “Nick Saban is the only one who can bring #USMNT to the promised land. At the very least they will win the SEC Championship. #USA #WC2026” Well the expectations are not too high, users be putting in Saban as the face for the World Cup 2026, well aware of the abilities of Nick. 

Another user tagged U.S. Soccer and said, “@ussoccer I’m gonna throw this out there: Nick Saban manages the 2026 USMNT. Unprecedented interest. Huge ratings. Hooliganism everywhere we play on 2026. Propels countless youth into soccer. Saban knows his job and really can’t do worse….” Fan showed great belief in Saban and undoubtedly stated that he knows his job well and can handle it all from here.

Another user went a notch ahead of everyone, straight-up claiming that, “Just have Nick Saban coach the national team, he’s only working part time right now.”
