Another day, another Antonio “AB” Brown drama.

The NFL legend has a new target after his attacks on Caitlin Clark: the Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner. He also ripped apart the WNBA, which is already in a $50-million soup now that it has been operating autonomously, far removed from the NBA. 

Brown dismisses WNBA’s relevance by landing a caustic attack

The WNBA initially witnessed a remarkable surge in popularity due mostly to the Caitlin Clark effect. But the current situation is a different story. Since its establishment, the WNBA has struggled to achieve financial stability. The league has consistently lost money each year, averaging over $10 million in annual losses. But the financial woes have now hit rock bottom; the WNBA is expected to lose $50 million for the 2024 season alone. As soon as the figure started doing rounds, Brown came up with his expert commentary. Sharing his views on X, he questioned the league’s popularity and wrote, “This why I’ve found all the WNBA talk to be hilarious. Nobody actually watches it.”

He further questioned the point of arguing in the league’s defense and landed a homophobic attack, “So when you’re arguing about it, you’re not really arguing about a professional sport. It’s more of just a charity for lesbians.” Landing vulgar attacks is something that is not uncommon for Brown, and Clark knows it the best. 

Antonio Brown and his offensive comments spree

When Iowa women’s basketball sensation Clark rose to fame, Brown, instead of appreciating the young prodigy, came up with a crude caption. The NFL legend targeted the Hawkeyes star with a vulgar jab and wrote, “B*tch look like Mel Gibson #CTESPN.” This is what Brown came up with when the basketball star scored 49 points against the Michigan Wolverines. The NCAA women’s basketball scoring leader yet again fell prey to Brown’s brutal attack, claiming her appearance and voice to be “masculine.” Making use of this claim, he landed another caustic comment, “Caitlin Clark look like she keeps it hairy.” 

However, with the passing of time, AB ensured to mend for all the badmouthing he had done about Clark by endorsing her on social media to buying expensive tickets to watch her live action. However, Brown, being Brown, has now found a new target. As Griner announced that she and her wife are expecting their first child, the controversial NFL veteran questioned the basketball star’s gender, “Brittney Griner is definitely a dude! #CTESPN.”  

Brown’s back-to-back assaults on the WNBA and the stars rendered the hard work he put in to pay for the damage he caused to Clark useless. While the league’s future hangs in the air, how the players safeguard their honors and the league’s is to be seen.
