Colin Kaepernick, the former QB for the San Fransico 49ers, wants to make a return to the NFL but the controversies just won’t let him be. The 35-year-old athlete has been making the news ever since his potential return was announced earlier this season. Kaepernick was released from the 49ers in 2016 on grounds of political disobedience and has been a free agent ever since.

The QB sent a letter to the New York Jets when Aaron Rodgers, the veteran QB, got injured within the first 5 minutes of the match against the Buffalo Bills. Soon after, Kaepernick sent a letter asking if he could replace A-Rod as the Jets’ new QB but the Jets denied him his comeback opportunity. Months later, Kaepernick is being talked about by fans in heated discussions for his return.

In a recent interview, Jemele Hill, an American sports journalist, had fierce words to say about Kaepernick’s comeback situation. She said, “For somebody who claimed so much slavery and racism inside the NFL, why do you want to work so badly on an NFL team?” Hill’s statements come across as true as the rest of the fans of the NFL are asking the same question.

After he was released from the 49ers, Kaepernick sued the NFL on grounds of racism and eventually got a paycheck from them in the form of a settlement after 2 years of a lengthy court battle. Thus, it doesn’t make sense for Kaepernick to try and slither his way back into an organization that he hates and once went to war with. While all the controversies continue to ensue around him, the fans are still curious to see how his future shapes in the NFL.

Colin Kaepernick: Will he ever come back to the NFL again?

As of now, the official answer is no as the enmity between the two entities is too big of a gap to fill. Kaepernick faced humiliation from the Jets’ denial but it doesn’t seem like his doors to football are completely shut. BC Lions, a team in the Canadian Football League recently put Kaepernick on the negotiation list which could potentially give him the chance at football he’s been looking for.

There’s no doubt that Kaepernick was a talented player but regardless of what happened in 2016, it’s obviously not the best move to call the NFL a place of slavery and then proceed to try and join it 6-years later. The fans are dumbfounded by his audacity and while a lot of his supporters wish to see him come back, it seems awfully improbable for the former quarterback.
