As 2024 marks the end of Bill Belichick’s and Patriots’ partnership era, former Patriots players embrace each chance they get to revisit the sweaty practicing sessions to the hollering SB wins. Bill Belichick was not just a coach, but also a source of inspiration to master the ball.

However, when it came to mastering the ball, Belichick made sure that his boys were getting a hold of it in every situation, not only under pressure but also in every physical circumstance. Rob Gronkowski’s favorite activity post-retirement is engaging in hearty conversations with various shows and podcasts. With Gronk’s appearances on these podcasts inclining, so do the secrets he spills during them. In his latest appearance on the Up and Adams show, Gronk opened up about Belichick training them to play with a slippery ball if the weather decided to not be in the game’s favor someday.
“Coach Belichek’s favorite thing was when it was under 32 degrees he would walk up to the football, he would get two water bottles, and he would spray the water bottles and make sure they were slippery,” explained Gronk. Further, he confessed that even the GOAT Tom Brady would struggle while practicing with such a ball. “Then you would watch Tom Brady try to throw the football and he looks like a four-year-old trying to throw it because it was just slipping out of his hands on every throw.”

Well, even though the tactics were laughter-inducing, it is what got them the 6 SB rings that the Patriots boast today. The Patriots continue their hunt for the next person who would be able to bring more such beneficial antics to the table.
