Hey, if you are a die-hard Cowboys fan you must be waiting for the 1995 season to repeat, right? 1995 was the last year when Jerry Jones‘ Cowboys won a Super Bowl. And what a star-studded roster it was! Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders, Michael Batiste, Bill Bates, all the greatest minds and players were on the roster. But since then, the Cowboys haven’t even had a sniff. And that’s what makes the legendary Troy Aikman angry and frustrated when the talks about the Cowboys’ Super Bowl drought.
Aikman was asked about the same at the 2025 Children’s Cancer Fund gala. He couldn’t hold his emotions back and talked about it frankly. “I thought we had more in us and I thought we would be back. Obviously, we weren’t,” Aikman said, remembering the Cowboys came into 2024 on the back of three consecutive 12-win seasons. The three-time Super Bowl champion further poured out his buried feelings for the organization.
The Cowboys legend (1989 to 200) said, “I think I speak for the Cowboys faithful in saying that it’s been a long time. And this is the Dallas Cowboys, it’s an organization that has had a great history and this team has won a lot of games over the years with a lot of different players.” But a more heartbreaking fact about the Cowboys is, after Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin‘s 1995 SB, the team has never been to the Super Bowl. They’ve never even made it to the Championship round.

Sometimes the reporters from Dallas think it’s Jerry Jones who has been a major impediment to ending the franchise’s SB drought. Lastly, the announcer and ESPN analyst, Aikman, added, “But for whatever reasons they just haven’t been able to get it done in the postseason. I don’t think anybody is happy about that. That’s been part of the Cowboys’ legacy and all it’s stood for for so many years.” Well, maybe it’s about the culture at Cowboys, who knows! Experts, team members, and even the former HC Mike McCarthy have also talked about the business-centered culture at the Cowboys. Whatever it is, but one thing is clear: the problem is deeply rooted, maybe they need a messiah to change it!
But, you know, when Jerry Jones extended Dak Prescott‘s contract in 2024 for $240 million for four years, the Cowboys owner must have thought he had found a messiah. But he was wrong. Meanwhile, Dak Prescott also talked about the Cowboys next season. He was at the same event where Troy Aikman was there and promised Jerry Jones after breaking the 2024 one.

Dak Prescott’s new promise for Jerry Jones after breaking the 2024 one
Dak Prescott was also at the 2025 Children’s Cancer Fund gala. And when encircled by reporters, he was asked about the Super Bowl 2024 winners, the Eagles. So, while answering, Dak Prescott promised something strong at the end. “I feel like we’ve competed with the Eagles and beat them for the most part when we’ve played them,” Prescott said.

While promising the elusive, Prescott took a moment to check himself. “I don’t want to say, ‘Check the record,’ when the other guy is holding the trophy, right? So credit to them. They’ve earned it, and they deserve it by all means. But, yeah, [we’re] very close.” Man, close to the Super Bowl 2024 winner. Well, no offense to Troy Aikman’s opinion, but Dak Prescott has already promised Dallas fans the moon in 2025.

But… Prescott had previously said that in 2024 Cowboys would win the Super Bowl. But what was the reality? Exactly the opposite. He missed out on a majority of the season with a hamstring injury. Their poor record saw HC Mike McCarthy exit the building. Well, the 2025 season is on the way, and what Troy Aikman and the fans expect at the least is a winning record. It would be better for the Cowboys franchise if Dak Prescott translated his talk to on-field performance.
