The Cowboys are in the news again. Just like last year, Jerry Jones is confident of winning a Super Bowl. Just a few days back, their QB Dak Prescott claimed that they were as good as the Eagles. It caused a stir in the NFL world, as the fans couldn’t believe his overconfidence. Now, a Cowboys legend has stepped up to clarify things.

He appeared on the February 15 episode of Law Nation Sports, where he talked about the quarterback’s comments and said, “I was with Dak when he made those comments. It’s a crazy world right now. You say something, and then the next thing you know, it’s on social media and it’s kind of mischaracterized. It’s not what was intended or what exactly was said.” That’s fine if the legend said so.

However, the real question is what else could be the measure of the performance? The Cowboys drafted him in the 4th round (135th overall) in the 2016 Draft. Since then, he has played 9 seasons for the franchise. But in none of them, they managed to reach the NFC championship game.

Compare this to the Commanders or Eagles, both played in the NFC championship in the 2024 season. The last time the Cowboys played in the conference game was in 1995 when Troy Aikman was their QB. They even won the Super Bowl that season. Since then, things have been on a downward trajectory.

Other players from the locker room, such as the linebacker, Micah Parsons are asking for an aggressive approach to get fresh talent. Dak Prescott is hopeful of conquering the NFC East division.

Troy Aikman warns Dak Prescott about divisional rivals

The Cowboys legend had a clear warning for Dak Prescott about the upcoming danger. “Philadelphia, it’s not like they’re going to stay put. Washington, now they’ve got their quarterback in place, stands to reason that they’re going to continue to be better and bolster that roster as well. It’s an uphill climb for Dallas with some of the changes, but I don’t think for a second that they won’t be able to compete in the NFC East. But I also think these other two teams are going to be better as well,” Aikman iterated.

However, the approach has been very logical. The Eagles have worked hard to get the best players they could under the GM Howie Roseman. A contract specialist, he wasn’t even fazed when a beer can injured his head during SB Parade and yelled, “I bleed for this city.” Let’s move to the Commanders.

Dan Quinn moved from the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator in 2023 to the Commanders’ HC in 2024. Then, the owner was supportive of his coach. But it has become a competitive place for the America’s team. Even under the rookie, Jayden Daniels, they looked better than most teams in the league.

However, the Giants, like the Cowboys, struggled last season, winning only three games and losing the rest. Their QB had just 1,071 yards and 6 touchdowns alongside 12 sacks and 5 interceptions. His QB rating? A mere 46.4.

However, there are high chances that Aaron Rodgers, released by the NY Jets, might land up there. But he is known for his own gimmicks. Looking at the positive, if that happens, then the division could really heat up. It would be truly intense.
