Concerns about Travis Kelce’s future are once again at a peak as we speak. The TE is 35 years old, and it can be seen that as he has aged, his performance has declined. And, for various reasons, his retirement is officially a possibility. Even Jason Kelce, his elder brother, retired a year ago and at that time he was 36. But is now the right time for the younger Kelce brother to hang up the boots?

Well, no one knows if the TE should play or not. Although he has one more season left on his contract, the Chiefs can let him retire. But they have only given him a few weeks to make a decision. This deadline may put him under some pressure which was not liked by NFL legend Shannon Sharpe. The legend suggested Kelce should take his time and make his own decisions rather than following the team’s. Sharpe mentioned big names like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, who switched teams due to a late choice. And who knows? We may see Kelce doing the same.

Sharpe on his YouTube channel was heard quoting, “Tom Brady won six Super Bowls, he finished in Tampa. Peyton Manning had four MVPs two Super Bowl appearances one Super Bowl MVP, he finished in Denver. Jerry Rice, I do not need to go anymore… I am just saying understand the business and how it works. The team will always do what is in the best interest of the team, this is why I employ the best player. Do what is in your best interest with you”

Travis Kelce has $17.5 million left in his contract for the last year.  And here, his roaster bonuses account for a stunning $11.5 million. Jeez! This is truly some great cash, which is why the Chiefs are concerned with the TE’s retirement. On March 14th, the team must pay out the roaster bonuses for the following season. And, let’s face it, no matter how loyal Kelce was to them, they would not want to take any risks. Kelce must think through his thoughts and take his 2025 season out before March 13 (if that’s what he truly wants).

While all KC supporters would like to see Kelce stay in the game. There are not many possibilities for the TE to continue, especially given what happened in the Super Bowl. For those who don’t know Travis’ attitude towards the loss has been too negative.

Travis Kelce blames himself for the heartbreaking Super Bowl loss to the Eagles

For Chiefs fans, Super Bowl LIX was a nightmare. The team that was unstoppable throughout the regular season and postseason, lost a one-sided game on the biggest stage. And the reason was also not that convincing. But the biggest takeaway from the loss is Kelce blaming himself for what happened in New Orleans. The TE claimed that he was the one who had experience, and he did not put it to use on the field. It appears he was not satisfied with his four receptions for 39 yards in the game.

Travis commented, “I wasn’t the best leader that I could be in motivating my guys and keeping my guys calm, cool, collected. And I put a lot of that on myself as the guy that’s been in the building for 12 years … It’s a tough pill to swallow. It’s a hard reality. I love my teammates. I love my coaches. Chiefs Kingdom, I’m sorry for how it ended.”
