As the NFL playoffs draw near, football fans find themselves reminiscing about legendary quarterbacks and unforgettable moments on the field. One such moment was when Pittsburgh Steelers‘ veteran Ike Taylor encountered the greatest of all time, Tom Brady. It was an intense match during the Week 8 of the 2004 NFL season.

Taylor had recorded his first career interception of Brady, and the Steelers won 34-20 against the New England Patriots. This record had lit his path to success, transforming the veteran into a starting quarterback of the team. Not to mention, he played for Pittsburgh for his entire 12-year career. While Ike Taylor sailed through nostalgia, he also revealed something very wholesome.

The NFL on ESPN posted Ike Taylor recalling the memory of his iconic win against Tom Brady back in 2004 on YouTube. Cam Hayward asked Taylor about the feeling he got when he got his first pick versus Tom Brady. The former cornerback stated, “I was like, man I got to go track this ball, and Tom put enough air under it. Chris Hope was the safety at the time from Florida State.” 

The legend continued, “We had a third-round Draft pick. C Hope and I said, man, I just gotta go up and get this thing, so I went up and got it. And I still got that picture on my wall, my first interception on the wall. Just coming down with it, down with it, I was like, dang, like this NFL first pick, and look who it was. It was the great goat Tom Brady, so when that happened, I was just excited to get it.”

As Taylor recounted his encounter with Brady, it became evident that he holds the quarterback in the highest regard. When asked about Brady’s legacy, Taylor never hesitated to acknowledge his greatness. And the former CB has done so through very creative statements.

Ike Taylor’s compliments for GOAT Brady

In 2015, after Tom Brady’s 30-23 win over the New York Jets, Ike Taylor was left in awe. He then stated on NFL Network, “He’s so good, it makes me sick. Somebody get me some Pepto-Bismol.” Also, in an interview on YT in 2021, Taylor commented on Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings. The CB said, “You’ve got a whole week on your hands.”
