After 272 regular season games and almost a month of the postseason, the NFL MVP debate is now over. And trust me, it wrapped up with some serious tension. The reason? Well, Josh Allen clinched the first MVP title of his career, but it seems like the NFL fandom isn’t happy with that decision because the Ravens‘ QB, Lamar Jackson, has better stats than Allen. Alright, I know most of y’all were probably all in for Jackson to snag his third MVP, but here’s the twist: the NFL GOAT, Tom Brady, decided to take the road less traveled.

According to Jay Morrison, who’s the Bengals‘ beat writer for SI’s BengalsTalk.com, Brady was one of four voters who had the Bengals’ wide receiver, Ja’Marr Chase, on his ballot. Now, that’s a total curveball. Brady listed Chase fourth on his ballot, but wait for it. Because what’s coming next is more interesting.

See, the future Hall of Fame QB turned FOX announcer listed Lamar Jackson first, Allen second, and Saquon Barkley third in his list. And guess what? With Chase being fourth on his ballot, the Bengals’ QB, Joe Burrow, was listed fifth. Uh-huh? A former NFL QB is listing a receiver ahead of another QB in his ballot. He wasn’t on our NFL bucket list this year, right? But it is what it is.

Besides Brady, Former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi followed the same route as Brady and listed Chase fourth on his MVP ballot, but his ballot didn’t include Burrow. On the other hand, former NFL quarterback and current co-host of Pro Football Talk Live Chris Simms and Yahoo sports reporter Charles Robinson listed the Bengals’ wideout as fifth—one spot behind Burrow.

Well, if we take a stat-wise look, then no doubt, Chase has recorded one of the best seasons of his 4-year long NFL career with the Bengals. He started in all the games he played this season but one and piled up 1,708 receiving yards for 127 receptions and racked up a solid 17 touchdowns. But honestly, the decision of choosing Chase over the guy who was actually throwing the ball to him kinda feels weird.

So, Lamar Jackson has been betrayed

Remember that day when the NFL announced that Snoop Dogg was going to host the NFL honors ceremony this year? Yeah, most of you believed that Snoop would hand over the MVP to Lamar Jackson. Thought it was gonna get wild, but nope—just a total letdown, especially for the Ravens’ fans. And now, it looks like everyone is sidelining Jackson after he lost the MVP honor.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Josh Allen really deserve the MVP over Lamar Jackson's impressive stats this season?

Have an interesting take?

Before the season kicked off, Lamar Jackson inked a deal with Gatorade and starred in their latest ad for the ‘You Know We Got ‘IT” campaign. “This campaign is all about the idea that ‘IT’ is an internal mindset that drives you to be your best, which rings true for me,” Jackson said after the commercial release. But here’s the kicker: right after Josh Allen was announced as MVP, Gatorade hit up their official Instagram handle and posted Allen’s pick with a caption, “From unrecruited to MVP 🏆 Cop @joshallenqb’s exclusive MVP Gatorade Gx Bottle at Gatorade.com.”

Yep, you read that right. And why wouldn’t they? I mean, the $200 billion brand also partnered with Allen last year. The QB appeared in one of their latest commercials, reflecting on his lack of recruitment out of high school. In the commercial, Allen was narrating some of the emails he sent to the college head coaches for his recruitment.

“Hello coach, my name is Josh Allen. I’m a quarterback at Reedley Junior College out of California. Please have a look at my highlights and get back to me at any convenience,” Allen reads as his highlights play over coaches, deleting his emailFast forward to now, and Josh Allen is now an MVP.
