The “GROAT” roast on Netflix was a big win for both Tom Brady and the streaming service. Brady got a massive $30 million for taking the heat as jokes flew about his career and even his broken marriage with Gisele Bündchen. Netflix came out on top, too, with a whopping 13.8 million viewers tuning in. But the only one who was left with nothing but just “deep disappointment” was Gisele. The Brazilian supermodel felt the jokes aimed at her affected her children and flagged it as “irresponsible content.”

However, a month after the Tom Brady roast, NFL legend Drew Bledsoe revealed Brady might not have had much to do with the harsh jokes on the show and might not be the main one behind the “disappointment.”

On a podcast with Keyshawn Johnson, Drew Bledsoe revealed some surprising details about the show’s writing process. “We went back and forth with the writers. I sent them ideas I was comfortable with, and they sent back other stuff,” he said. Turns out, some of the more unexpected jokes came straight from the writers. “The nice thing was, a couple of wine puns actually came from them,” Bledsoe said, surprised. “I didn’t know if it was appropriate to throw in some wine stuff,” he added.

The most interesting tidbit is that Bledsoe admits to rejecting a few jokes that the writers ultimately used on Brady. “They actually sent me some jokes I turned down that they gave to Tom, which I thought was kind of funny,” he revealed. Bledsoe even joked about it, saying, “He’s picking up my scraps again.” While Bledsoe’s conversation ended on a lighter note, Brady, on the other hand, is doing all he can to ease the tension with his former wife and kids for the jokes that “he didn’t write.”

More than Gisele Bündchen’s divorce from the NFL legend, her relationship with jiu-jitsu trainer Joaquim Valente was the prime target of the jokes. A source close to Gisele said the joke “made it look like Gisele cheated, which she’s been desperately trying to deny.” The source added that such content also affected Tom Brady’s children.

However, Brady quickly shared his thoughts on the roast, sensibly stating, “I loved when the jokes were about me… I didn’t like the way it affected my kids.” Despite the bittersweet nature of the show, Brady boldly declared that he “wouldn’t do it again.” But the legendary quarterback didn’t stop there. A source close to the former couple said he even “apologized” to Gisele for the below-the-belt jokes. Now that things seem to have settled, Bledsoe’s words make it seem even more likely that Tom Brady wasn’t purposefully making choices to hurt his family life.
