The Tom Brady 1/1 Montreal Expos Autograph Superfractor was unveiled on 12/12 “Brady Day” in December 2023 as part of the Bowman Draft line. The card features Brady as a “rookie” for the Expos in 1995, imagining a scenario where the football legend pursued a 23-season career in MLB instead of the New England Patriots.
Goldin, the renowned auction house, posted on January 14th that the card would enter open extended bidding. Within two hours, the card was claimed for an astonishing $158,600, surpassing the previous record of $56,153 for a Gary Carter rookie card. While the figure is undeniably impressive, it falls below the hobby’s lofty expectations given the fervor surrounding Brady’s rare Expos collectible. Notably, there’s another rare Brady card with an inscription that has yet to surface.

The card features the phrase, “If baseball doesn’t work out, there’s always football,” and it already has a $500,000 bounty placed on it by a collector, as per TMZ Sports. This inscription adds another layer of uniqueness to the already extraordinary memorabilia.
Brady’s connection to baseball dates back to 1995 when he was selected by the Expos in the 18th round of the MLB Draft. However, he chose to pursue college football at the University of Michigan instead. The accompanying ad campaign for the Bowman Draft line enlisted Expos legends Vladimir Guerrero Larry Walker and Pedro Martinez to reminisce about Brady’s “legendary” baseball career in a parallel universe.
