Supermodel Gisele Bundchen’s mother, Vania Nonnenmacher, passed away at the age of 75. Per The US Sun, Nonnenmacher was reportedly battling cancer. Owing to her condition getting worse, she was admitted to Hospital Moinhos de Vento, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, for her treatment, where she took her last breath.

Gisele Bundchen, along with her five sisters and father, are yet to comment on the incident. However, Bundchen has a sour past with the ailment, as her grandmother also passed away because of cancer, as she revealed in an interview with Lee Cowan from CBS. “She was magical for me because she could fix anything for me. She was so special,” commented Bundchen, remembering her grandmother, growing teary-eyed.

Back in September 2023, the model opened up about caring for her ailing parents. “It’s been very tough on my family… It’s been a lot — in every area of my life. I feel like whenever it rains, it pours. With all the different twists and turns that life takes, all we can do is the best we can given what happens in our surroundings.”

Born on July 23, 1948, Nonnenmacher worked as a bank teller while raising her six children, whom she shared with her husband, Valdir Bündchen. She raised them in the Brazilian town of Horizontina. She played an important role in starting Gisele’s modeling career as she enrolled her in a modeling course. Post that course, Gisele went on a trip to Rio de Janeiro, where she was discovered by Elite Model Management.

The wake will be held this Monday (29), in the Ecumenical Chapel of the Metropolitan Crematorium, in the Azenha neighborhood, in Porto Alegre, starting at 8 am. Subsequently, the farewell ceremony takes place, scheduled for noon, per a local source, GHZ. Gisele Bundchen’s ex-husband Tom Brady is yet to comment on the death. The news is expected to come as a shock to him, as it might remind him of his own mother’s struggle.

Tom Brady’s mother also suffered from cancer

Following this, Brady’s mother underwent several radiation and chemotherapy treatment sessions for five months, due to which she had to miss witnessing many of her son’s important games; even the Super Bowl.

Sharing her journey with NFL Network’s Andrea Kremer, Galynn Brady looked back on her son’s constant assurance and support to her during the tough time. “He was in touch with us on an extraordinary regular basis. He knew our frustration of not being able to be back there with him and he said, ‘Oh, you’ll be ready for the Super Bowl.’ He told us that in the middle of the season. We did have it charted out that the end of her five months was going to be two weeks before the Super Bowl,” said Tom Brady’s mother.
