Whether you are a Tom Brady fan or not, given the 23 years of headaches that he has given to your franchise. You probably won’t disagree that there is hardly anyone who mastered the QB position like Brady did in the NFL. Seven Super Bowl titles, 5 Super Bowl MVPs, 3 NFL MVPs, and hundreds of individual records. Brady came, saw, and conquered the NFL like no one probably will. So, when it comes to ranking the best QBs ever in NFL history. Is there really anyone else who can dish out a better list than Brady can? Probably not. But obviously, you are the final judge, as Brady kind of gave his Mount Rushmore of QBs with the best arm talent, ignoring a lot of legendary names.
In his latest YouTube video, titled “How to Throw a Football by Tom Brady,” the former Patriots QB was asked to list his top 5 QBs with a monstrous throwing arm. Well, given the vast range of names, Brady took a moment to pick the right names. “It’s a great question. All-time arm talent? Dan Marino,” Brady said. Yep, Marino, despite not having a Super Bowl to his name, is widely considered to have a lightning arm and thunderous throwing motion.
Marino still holds an NFL record for the lowest career sack percentage with 3.1%. And during his 17 seasons with the Dolphins, Marino even led the league in completions (6) and pass attempts 5 times. Adding to his accolades, Marino was also a 5-time NFL passing yards leader and a 3-time TD leader. So, given his records and slick arm talent, it wasn’t a surprise that Brady named him first on his list. Now, the next person Brady thought had the greatest arm talent after Marino was Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers could be a questionable choice given the latter stages of his career. A Super Bowl Champion with the Packers and a 4-time NFL MVP, Rodgers was at the top of his game in Green Bay. Even though the Jets‘ tenure tarnished some of his NFL legacy. Rodgers still boasts an NFL record 1.4 interception thrown percentage. He also has the highest ever passer rating, 102.6, also an NFL record. There might be a few critics mentioning Rodgers’ diminishing talents. Still, you can’t argue that at his peak, there probably wasn’t anyone better than Rodgers at throwing footballs.
But surprisingly, Brady forgot to mention the Manning brothers. Peyton and Eli, who both won 2 Super Bowls each, didn’t make Brady’s Mount Rushmore of QBs. However, the one name that could raise even more questions is the inclusion of Brett Favre. Instead of a name like Joe Montana, Brady picked Favre over others.

Brett Favre makes Tom Brady’s Mount Rushmore over 4-time Super Bowl Champion Joe Montana
Taking nothing away from Brett Favre’s accomplishments, he is one of the greatest QBs in NFL history. An 11-time Pro Bowl, 4-time TD leader, and 2-time passing yards leader, when at his peak, Favre knew how to wreak havoc in the red zone. However, alongside his biggest accomplishments came the embarrassments. Favre still holds the NFL record for most interceptions (336) and fumbles (166) by a QB. So, when Brady said, “Brett Favre,” after mentioning Dan Marino and Aaron Rodgers, it was kind of disrespectful to Joe Montana.
Montana was arguably the greatest QB ever to play football after Tom Brady, of course. 4 Super Bowls, 3 Super Bowl MVPs, 2-time TD leader, 2-time passing yards leader, 5-time pass completion leader. Montana didn’t know anything but how to play mesmerizing football. That’s why when his name wasn’t included in Brady’s list of QBs having the greatest arm talent, it was indeed surprising. One last name Brady definitively mentioned was Matthew Stafford.

What’s your perspective on:
Did Tom Brady disrespect Joe Montana by excluding him from his top QB arm talent list?
Have an interesting take?
Stafford is currently the 6th all-time in passing yards per game. He was also the fastest player ever to breach the 40,000 passing yards mark. After Stafford, Brady named a few other honorable mentions: Josh Allen, Randall Cunningham, Jeff George, and Michael Vick. Then he proceeded to say, “Those guys were a step above people who have great arms and those who have elite arms.” Obviously, there might be some disagreement with Brady’s all-time arm talent list. But those he mentioned definitely have a spot one way or the other.
